I saw the other reviews that this didn't work with newer phones so was hesitant to try.
I bought it and it didn't work the first time I plugged it it.
It was easy to set up and clung onto the vent wonderfully. The prongs opened up and I placed my phone it...and nothing. No charging. No closing. Nothing. I hit the buttons...nothing.
Decided it would need to be returned.
Let it sit in my car over the weekend. Tried it again on Monday.
It worked but wouldn't open this time to release my phone.
Gave it one more chance in the afternoon. After all things were improving.

It seems to work as it should now. Opens and closes and charges. I'll keep it as long as it keeps working.

UPDATE
It works intermittently. I can tell if it was working all the time it would be great. Will see how long it lasts or if it bugs me too much.

This is by far the best phone holder I've had in my car. It holds the phone very securely, the clamps that mount to the AC vent are also very positive and provide a strong hold, the built in QI charger is super handy, and the device is simple and attractive. A lot of the other charger/holders I looked at or used in the past were clunky looking, didn't stay attached securely, and more importantly, I didn't trust them to keep my phone secured on windy roads. This holder hasn't let me down once, and I liked it so much I bought another one for a family member to put in their new car.
