Brand new 16TB HD arrived in a sealed box which made me happy.First of all, I checked this HD’s space and it does have 16 decimal terabytes (14.5TB in binary).The write speed performance is good (not as good as an SSD of course) at around 213MB/s but as the disk gets filled up, it hovers around 160MB/s.This HD comes with the exFat file format that uses more disk space than the NTFS format. After my data backup, I found out that it uses more than 100GB in wasted disk space due to the exFat format; see the attached picture for an example of NTFS and exFat file size vs size on disk.The disk does however make quite a bit of noises as it works.At $379.99 CAD, it comes to $23.75 per terabytes, which is a good deal.
