I will be writing a detailed review at the 500 round and updating it at the 1000 round. For now I will give my initial impressions after 60 round of 7.62x39 from an AR 180 variant. I bought this to replace a Monstrum optic which I paid $200. The optic broke and their customer service would not honour the warrant;y for the new optic.
I will be rating My customer service experience for this optic as well as any warranty service and all the Hardware. I bought this with my own money and I have no relationship with WestHunter. I took at chance on this company, I have not heard of them before. My overall initial impression is very good.. First the customer service is very responsive. (They are in China). I had 2 interaction with them and it was fast and good. I bought the most expensive package, so it came with illuminated horse shoe reticle, lens cover and the one piece mount. everything you need. The scope is light and solidly built. The adjustment caps are can be pulled up and adjusted. The click but not very positive ( not a big issue). I love the reticle. It is not very bright at the highest setting. The glass is good, but not super clear. This is an $185 scope, I tried my friend’s Leupold scope which cost 2K, It is definitly not 10x clearer then the Westhunter scope, so keep that in mind. I would say the glass is OK. It will do the job. The lenses are definitly coated. It was around zero Celsius when I tested, and I tested for an hour so I was breathing heavy and the lense would fog from my breath and will clear in about 2 seconds. So it definitly has an anti fog coating. I can't not speak on the adequacy of the anti fogging coating of the scope, I just don't have the experience yet, I know I was breathing heavy, I doubt very expensive optics woud fog. Still the fogged lense would clear in about 2 seconds. I was able to make my long shots. This is a 1-6 scope, at 5 and 6 the eye box becomes small, you have to be at the correct distance. At 1 -4 The eye box is very forgiving. The eye relief is good. Now the main thing I was worried about is recoil and my rifle kicks, as I mentioned the Monstrum scope front lens dislodged under the recoil of rapid fire. For this Westhunter, I did some rapid fire and it did its job. To conclude my 60 round impression of this optic, It is good, and a good value for the money so far I am happy. For all the guys like me who can not afford a 2K scope but needs something good for a fair price, I will complete and update this review at the 500 round and again at the 1000 round. The review will be done under normal use for hunting, sport shooting and cold and wet Canadian conditions. It will not be a torture test. I will also include any customer service or warranty experiences and issues which are very important to me after my very negative experience with Monsturm optics.

This is ment to be a cheap piece of glass to put on a cheap gun. It holds up to 7.62 recoil and functions well enough I bought 2 for my range toys. Obviously this looks the part for an ar, but it's far from a vortex. This is no battle scope. But for a range toy, it's perfect. I have one on the range rifle and one on my bush/deer gun. It's reliable enough I'd count on it for hunting. But wouldn't abuse it too much, ie constant adjusting of the knobs.

Honestly I just bought this to delve into the world of lvpo's before I bought an expensive one for my rifle. It's worth the money for sure. Handles 5.56 recoil and being tossed around a bit. The reticle isn't daylight bright, but it adds contrast in lower light situations.

When I upgrade from this, I'll definitely be putting this on one of my .22 rifles

Edit: after further use I've realized this thing won't hold zero if a mosquito farts on it. Even when I resighted it (for the 6th time) I was looking through it and pushed the turret back down and saw it deflect my reticle by 2 whole mils at 100 yards

My two stars come from two good optics but poor quality control on the sellers part. I was sent an opened and once installed sight by the seller. I get it, mistakes happen and if the customer I was doing work for wasn’t in such a hurry I would of definitely returned it.

Kinda felt sorry for the guy that returned it. I don’t think he had a clue what he was doing. Tried to “shim” the inside of the optic cover with tape and scratched the holy f out of the ring mount.
