Gotta get shades!
The 6 pack of lights replaced my shops 32 4ft fluorescent bulbs and shine way brighter! The 110v plug in needed a place to be plugged in so some electrical boxes did need to be run as the previous lights were hardwired in off one box. For a small building etc one of these lights would be sufficient. Hopefully they last without failure!!!

The UFO 240 watt High Bay Light is 12.5 inches in diameter and the LED ring and plastic diffuser is about 10 inches in diameter.
The lamp is made with a heavy cast aluminum top casing with cooling fins and an aluminum casing for the power control module attached above the cooling fins. Included is an integrated heavy duty hook support that is screwed into the top of the power control module casting. It is rated as IP65 water resistant.
It was tested with a wattmeter and a lux meter to determine the power consumption and the light output.
The light has a removable rubber plug that covers a 3 position switch and Phillips screw which when rotated adjusts the light’s power consumption and the LED brightness.
There is also a pair of wires to be connected to a variable 10 volt supply if you want to dim a number of them in unison. When the lamp arrived it was set on high power mode and the input power was measured at 241 watts when first turned on. In high mode, adjustment of the screw control changes the lamp from a low of 216 watts to a high of 293 watts. In medium mode, adjustment of the screw control changes the lamp from a low of 161 watts to a high of 234 watts. In low power mode, adjustment of the screw control changes the lamp from a low of 116 watts to a high of 181 watts. The lux meter was used at a fixed distance of about 24 inches from the lamp to measure the relative brightness of the lamp.
At 240 watts the brightness was 24700 lux and 181 watts the brightness was 21300 lux and at 132 watts the brightness was 16100 lux.
The FLIR images shows the moderate lamp temperatures of the lamp after about one hour of operation with no serious hot spots.
By looking at the ratios of the lux output to power consumed, the lamp appears to be more efficient in the conversion of electricity to light in low power mode by more than 20% when compared to high power mode and about 14% more efficient in medium power mode when compared to high power mode. LEDs are typically more efficient when they are used at lower power and that is what we found here.
The unit appears to be well built,and performs to specifications. Even though the lamp was tested for a short time, not to worry about longevity because the lamp comes with a 5 year warranty.

Simply put the higher these lights are the better they perform. Lets keep in mind they are called High Bay lights. I had 3 potential use cases for this light: My shop, A high cube shipping container, lighting over my crafting workspace for painting. Lets explore each of these use cases with my findings
Shop: 800sqft 13ft ceilings
- Worked really well, I could easily take 6 of the present 4 foot 2 bulb florescent fixtures out and replace with 4 of these running at 120 to 150W each. There is a loft that would require different lighting as the height just isn't there for this type of lighting.
Crafting work space 8ft ceiling
- Even at the lowest setting this light is really overkill for this type of use. It did a fantastic job of lighting the area but I had to turn it down to the lowest settings to make it manageable otherwise the light intensity was just too much and if I was working on something reflective it was hurting the eyes. I really need a higher ceiling in this space for this type of lighting
High Cube Sea Can
- Delivery of sea can was delayed so I wasn't able to test this and this was initially my primary plan for this to put the light dead center of the 40 ft can at the mid lighting setting. The light is not needed to facilitate working in the cube but rather to see to get supplies and such. I think it will work but it's going to leave darker spots in the back corners as the cube ceiling height is just shy of 9 ft.
Overall thoughts
These lights with the adjustability of 120W/150W/200W make them very versatile, After initially experimenting with this light I can see myself buying more to change the lighting in my shop or using this one in my high cube when it arrives. The construction of the light itself is impressive and the heat dissipation at 200W is very good. The hottest I recorded after a little over an hour of use was 70 degrees C with an ambient temperature around 20 degrees C.
