This camera came highly recommended by a friend, who likes his camera for photographing things I'm unlikely to. Anyway, I purchased this camera and tried it for about a week. I seldom return my purchases, but I had to with this camera. It is tough to find anything I liked about this camera - to its credit, it is compact and it has some unique and useful gadgets (e.g., a microsope setting with a ring light) and if the battery hatch is perfectly clean the seal is replaced annually, it is apparently waterproof.

But here are some things that disappointed me about this camera:
I tried several times to calibrate its electronic compass and it never worked for me.
The camera GPS does not provide positional accuracy, which renders its GPS readings somewhat useless.
One has to reach over the options dial to use the tiny shutter release button, which is hard to press fully without shaking the camera.
The battery is wafer thin and takes fewer than 100 pictures once fully charged - it drains quickly
The ring light overexposes close ups (e.g., green foliage often looks unnaturally white)
In general the images (and single movie) I took were too dark and grainy for my liking - despite fiddling with the flash and ISO and having the camera set to the highest quality images.

I don't recommend this camera.

C’est une bonne caméra étanche et pour tout type de météo. Avec cette caméra pas besoin de s’inquiéter pour la sortir à la plage, quand il pleut ou quand il neige. Le seul défaut est que la caméra décide tout et qu’elle ne laisse pas place pour la configuration vitesse, aperture ou manuelle. La seule configuration posible à part de l’automatique est la P. Oubliez la longue exposition aussi.

It took me a while to learn how to best use this camera. The zoom is sharp and works better than cropping. Battery life is typical. Image quality is great, especially the 1 cm macro. Full GPS and Compass Heading are imprintable on the image. I wanted a camera that I could use in the rain. Solid and tough. I could crack walnuts open with it between shots. I take it everywhere I go.
