Product description

The Produce preserver replacement filters absorb ethylene allowing the ripening process of many produce items to slow down. As a results, certain produce items will stay fresh longer that are kept in your crisper drawer. It extends freshness of produce up to 25%. This kit includes 2 replacement filters and 1 status indicator which will be put in the housing in your crisper drawer. The status indicator helps you remember to change the pouches. Replace pouches and status indicator every six months for optimal freshness. The Produce Preserver Starter Kit which will include the housing, 2 filters and 1 status indicator is part number W11462816

I did not pick any stars for flavour. I don't know what it means. This particular filter, if you will, is an absolute must if you want to keep crispness and add longevity to you vegies and fruits. I am not quite understanding as to why people were not advised about this type of product. How much salad and peppers I would have been able to eat rather than throw into the compost.
By the way Amazon sells other products that use the same type of system that sits in your fridge tray among you produce and keeps the product fresh sometimes beyond three weeks. Now you can stack up on salad, beens bananas and etc. Your choice is at Amazon. Antonio

I had no idea this product existed until we bought our new fridge. Although not cheap, it does a good job of keeping vegetables in our crisper fresh. We plan our weekly food use fairly carefully, and in the six months since we've owned our new fridge, I don't recall throwing out any vegetables. Definitely an improvement over our previous fridge where no such product was used.

First, this product performs great. Second, this product should be labeled "Whirlpool W10346771A Produce Preserver refill." Third, if you do not already have a "holder" in each of your vegetable / fruit drawers to put these into, you will not be able to use these unless you purchase one. If you do already have a "holder," even if it's not a Whirlpool / KitchenAid brand, you should still be able to use these refills. If you "do not" have a holder, you can purchase a starter kit from Whirlpool that will include a complete setup for "one" vegetable / fruit drawer -- holder, test strip, 2-pack filters that both need to be placed inside one holder: https://www.whirlpoolparts.com/PartDetail/Deodorizer/P1KL6S1CS/4280137. I had to call KitchenAid to find this starter kit because KitchenAid / Whirlpool refers to it as a Deodorizer. After you purchase the starter kit or if you already have holders, you can purchase this "refill" item which is just the 2-pack filter refills with test strip for "one" drawer. I don't purchase refills at the KitchenAid / Whirlpool site because I can buy these cheaper on Amazon. The original product, FreshFlow Produce Preserver with packets and test strips, was delivered along with my new KitchenAid Refrigerator and works great. The strip gradually turns red to let you know when to refill the holder (refill about every 6 months). Just make sure to purchase as many of these as you have vegetable / fruit drawers, e.g., two drawers = two of this refill item -- one for each drawer.
