Every once in a while you come across a product that absolutely exceeds your expectations.
This RODE PodMic is one of those products. This is replacing a Blue Yeti that I could never get to work.
I had some trouble getting this one to work. The world has gone to USB-c leaving me behind. Fortunately for me adapters are available. I had to try a couple of computer ports before the RODE came to life.
It makes me sound better than I thought I sounded, I really like it.
It pick up every squeak of my chair or any other noise I make. This is technique, my noisy habits will have to change.
I was looking for a stand for my new RODE. The one that I liked is very expensive, available only after July 2025 ! It may be available sooner on Amazon.com if you were too look and didn't mind the price.
You will not be disappointed with this RODE PodMike.
I highly recommend it.

Third PodMic USB in use. We like it, sound is good, flexibility with analog XLR or USB-C is great. We use it predominantly with XLR to the RodecasterII.
The Microphone is made artificially heavy... most likely to justify the huge price increase over the analog only PodMic which doesn't really add any value when you mount it on a boom/arm. Just makes live more difficult for the boom and the friction adjustments to stay in place.
Value for money is not great, specifically at the much higher price. We bought it mainly for the future compatibility over USB-C if we ever change our setup. If our budget would have been tighter, it would not be worthwhile spending the extra money for the USB version and we would have bought to the analog only PodMic.

This is my 2nd rode mic. BIG UPGRADE from the mini RODE NT MINI USB . Buy the USB VERISON NOT THE AUX . Even if it’s cheaper . You get better software in this mic and you don’t need a mixer. The software is a lot better in this POD MIC USB

I bought this mic for my wife twice, first time this mic was defective, and not worked on different devises. And I returned first one. Second time I bought same model and last one woking well with Macbook air , iphone 9, iphone 14, redmi note 11 pro 5g.
Tested only type-c to type-c, type-c to lightning connections with original rode cables sc19. I recommend this mic.

1. J’aime le fait que je peux connecter ce micro directement à mon iPhone 12 avec câble SC19 de Rode. J’ai perdu l’argent avec Blue yéti X mais avec ce micro je suis satisfait
2. Grâce au DSP, un système intégré dans le micro qui permet gérer et améliorer le son. On peut augmenter le gain sans se préoccuper du bruit ambient ou background noise
3. Ce micro te sauve t’acheter un mixeur ensuite utiliser ton son dans un ordinateur ensuite te lancer en post production cad marcher y’a vidéo avec le son enregistré à part dans un mixeur(rodecaster ou autre). Si tu n’es pas pro en montage vidéo et son. La post production peut consommer beaucoup de temps.

Bref, le micro que je cherchais. Let’s go et Merci à Rode

Mauvais côté: il faut dépenser 50$ de plus pour acheter le câble sc19 USB C to Lightning. J’ai failli de donner 4 étoiles. Mais ce micro sauve du temps post production

New to audio recording and decided to go with this mic.

As a beginner there are tons of things to consider when buying a mic and it’s sort of impossible to make the right decision. Too many needs, very little audio knowledge etc.

My decision based on the two possible connectivity - usbc and xlr. I used the mic with usb until I learned about xlr.

The mic feels heavy and feels great, fits perfectly the rode boom arm, so far the mic performs well and it’s easy to use.

For me was better to spend a bit more on a quality tool and learn by using it than go with a cheap alternative and have more limitations as learning.

Was macht man, wenn man zuhause oder unterwegs im Hotel ein paar Sätze in hoher Qualität einsprechen muss? Natürlich kann man beliebige Mikrofone nehmen und mit RX10 dann stundenlang reparieren. Das ist aber kein Workflow, der Spaß macht und sich rechnet. Also dachte ich mir: Probier doch statt teurer Audiointerfaces mal dieses Mikro. Über USB-C direkt hinter dem Mikro kann da ja nichts mehr schief gehen. Und richtig, kurz die Empfindlichkeit des Mikros eingestellt, damit der Pegel einigermaßen passt, Noise Gate, Kompressor und Limiter, Hochpass (unfassbarerweise alle enthalten, ungefähr wie vom RØDECaster Pro II bekannt) und schwupp erscheint ein super Sound in der Aufnahme-Software. Wie es sein soll: Praktisch kein Rauschen dank Noise Gate in den Pausen. Interessanterweise ist dem Mikrofon auch der Raum (durch Nahbesprechung) praktisch egal, es war kaum ein Unterschied zwischen Büro/Studio und zuhause feststellbar (kein Reverb). So soll's sein, und das für einen unfassbar günstigen Preis.
Doch halt: Wenn ich im Hotel aufnehme, wie soll ich denn dann die Aufnahme prüfen? Also doch wieder Rodecaster oder größere Interfaces mitnehmen oder gar irgendwelche Boxen? Spaßeshalber habe ich also mal einen Neumann NDH 30 Kopfhörer (ca. 600 EUR) in die kleine Klinkenbuchse des Mikros gesteckt. Und siehe da: Perfekter Sound, nichts rauscht, so macht auch Musik hören Spaß. Das macht dann insgesamt ein krass gutes mobiles Studio für Stimme unter 1000 EUR. Wer will findet natürlich auch günstigere Kopfhörer (den Rode NTH-100 kenne ich leider nicht, ca. 150 EUR). Am PodMic USB wird es jedenfalls nicht scheitern.
