FAQ:

Why can't some cat urine be detected? Won't it work on cat urine?

  • The pet urine contains phosphorus and protein (mainly phosphorus), these minerals and elements will fluoresce under UV light, thereby detecting dry pet urine that is invisible to the naked eye. If some cats are low in phosphorus in their food and drinking water, their urine is also low in phosphorus, causing their urine to be undetectable by UV flashlights.

Why make sure the surface is completely dry?

  • Because black light UV light flashlight is only effective for detecting dry pet urine. Fresh pet urine, pet urine that is not completely dry, air humidity or superabsorbent materials may cause the light emitted by the purple flashlight to be very weak or not glow. For the most obvious fluorescence from UV light flashlight, allow the pet urine to dry completely before attempting to locate the stain with UV light flashlight. Only in this way can the UV flashlight be used to the extreme.

Tips:

  • Can only spot dried urine stain;
  • Does not work on reflective surface or carpet with fluoresce;
  • The ultraviolet led black light works best in dark environment, the darker it is, the better it works;
  • For few dark color carpets, the reflected stain color will be very close to the color of the carpet, making it harder to see;
  • Remove all batteries if you did not intend to use it for a long time.

Some reviews say that this is not a real black/UV light - THEY ARE WRONG

This is a genuine item, and of course it works best in the dark (it’s a flashlight), so people writing bad reviews on this item really don’t have a clue what they are talking about. Some other reviews have stated they have used it positively for curing UV-sensitive resin, so that really tells you what you need to know about it.

This flashlight is compact, yet solid feeling. Button works good. The battery case on the inside is somewhat loose, but the light doesn’t go out if you shake it, so functionality is not affected, and you can still get the batteries in and out easily.

In the dark, it will really show up loose bits and stains, I’ve yet to test it out on Uranium glass, but I imagine it should work fine.

I bought this during the Black Friday sale in case it didn't work but I just tried it out and I'm very happy with it. It's lighting up carpet stains that I can't see with the naked eye. Very happy with it.

Update: I tried rewashing the invisible stains using the UV light to guide me. The stains disappeared while they were wet but are as bright as ever now that they're dry again. Makes me rethink the usefulness of this flashlight since it's showing stains that aren't visible to the naked eye and can't be cleaned anyway. Your "glowing" hotel sheets are probably perfectly clean so what's the point?

Light seems very well made and very bright, but I have not been able to get it to show pet urine. I have a couple spots where the dogs urinate occasionally. It does not show anything out of the ordinary when I scan the area. I also tried it on some fresh urine in the yard thinking it would show up but saw nothing. We do not have scorpions where we live so I can't say if it works for this or not.

The company read my review and has gone above and beyond trying to help me with the product to make it right. Although I could not get the light to work as a pet urine detector, it is working fine for my intended purchase to use with UV adhesive. I would like to restate this is a very high quality light and very bright. I would recommend this company for its amazing customer service. If something isn't right, they will make it right.
