Let me start by saying: that I’ve never felt more like a rookie with an instrument until now. I always saw a violin as just a small body guitar with a “stick”
I opened this. Comes exactly like you would get a brand new guitar and in a nice semi-soft but hard case and boy did I feel out of my element. Rosin? What on earth do I do with this tuning was rather difficult because the tuners would slip out of the hole when I was close to getting it on key and being new strings made it a long process as anyone who has played a stringed instrument knows with new strings, you need to retune every couple of minutes a few times and even tomorrow it’ll likely be out of tune with the stretching of the strings.
To say the least, once I figured out what the rosin was for and a good chuckle, I also had no idea you could turn the knob on the bow(?) is that what it’s called? You can adjust the tension of the bow. I’m unsure if it’s real horsehair and when I finally used enough rosin and tuned it I played to most amazing -- screeching sounds I’ve ever heard and decided I may need some help.
So far, it seems nice. There is a video on the page showing a lady playing it and I’d love to play like her one day, but for now, I’m going to likely annoy my neighbors while trying to learn.
