1. Please do not connect your earphones, computer or other devices during the recording process, or the recording will be interrupted

2. Prohibit formatting on computer, once formatted on computer, the memory format will be changed, resulting in the recorder no longer working.

3. Record away from sources of noise such as air-conditioning, typing, scratching, clothing rubbing, or minor noises generated by computer operation.

As my office has become tend to have longer meeting time with less frequency, the content of discussion and communication had exploded in scale. In order to better meet this new challenge, I find it crucial to have a reliable and convenient voice recorder in case I miss some important points or information. Although our phone may has the capacity to make voice record but it is neither highly reliable nor the quality the recording up to my need. So I have chosen this 64 GB digital voice recorder to get there.

It have truly lived up to its reputation and meet my need nicely. The shape is sleek and size compact and it's really easy to use. The sound quality is crystal clear and I can record for hours without any issues. The only thing to be mindful of is that it's super compact in size so I have for many time forgot where I have put it. But that's also an advantage for portability though.

PROS:

* Compact.
* Easy to hold.
* Easy to affix and hang from a loop, zipper, etc.
* The build implementation appears very durable.
* Super easy to use: On to record, off to stop recording. You need to pause and wait for the status LED to settle before talking.
* The internal default settings are very good to use for everyday voice recording.
* Distant and up close recorded voice is impressively clear.
* Each recorded voice file is timestamped.
* The device includes a one-click Windows utility to conveniently synchronize its clock to the PC host.
* Other device user parameters are configurable via editing a text file on the device. Instructions are included in the user manual (paper copy included in product packaging).
* The device includes readable user manuals in multiple languages in PDF format.
* Mounting/unmounting the USB device on a Windows 11 PC host was trivial, as per the instructions. Just pay attention to the device status LED when it is ready.
* Mounting/unmounting the USB device on an Android 14 mobile was trivial.
* Listen digitally to the recordings directly from the mounted device on the connected USB host.
* Copy files from the device to elsewhere and delete them off the recording device, if you wish.
* The product packaging included a USB-to-micro USB cable, a USB-to-USB-C adapter, a 1/8" audio jack-to-micro USB with inline media controls that work very well (+/- volume, next file, previous file, play/pause), and stereo headphones. An extra key ring loop was included.
* At 16 kHz voice grade audio, 160 kbps bitrate on the 64 GB device provides about 912 hours of recorded joy. How can this be bad?
* The device does include the configurable option for voice activation, which could be useful for automated voice recordings and perhaps minimize silent moments of recording.

CONS:

* The design could have been improved using a USB-C connector instead of the micro-USB type.
* If you affix to your key chain, it is likely the device black enamel will get scratched up.
* This appears to be a monophonic recording device.
* The included earphones are adequate at best. They work, but playback is high in treble/distortion. It could also be the problem of the audio controller interface.
* The manual indicates 48 kHz sampling rate, but I detected 16 kHz - at least on the default settings. This is still good for voice quality.
* The device is sensitive to movement. If it is moved while recording, the physical friction sounds will be recorded.
* The device is not water resistant.
* When the internal battery eventually wears out, does this [once] useful device become landfill?

NOTES:

* I tried configuring higher bitrates assuming better sound quality. I get the higher bitrates, but the quality is not better, and in many cases worse. I don't think the device can consistently managing the higher rates.
* It appears bitrates 160 kbps and lower are stored as MP3 and higher as WAV files.
* Recorded files are limited to two hours each.
* It is not clear yet how long the device will run per charge. The battery is only 150 mAh. Online the manufacturer suggests 17 hours of recording use. The LED flashes a sequence when the battery runs low. The manual states it will automatically shutdown the device.
* The price might seem a bit high for such a small and single task device. However, its job - to record voice notes - it does well.

SUMMARY:

This device is a gem to bang down instant thoughts one file at a time. It is easy and safe, unlike fussing with some mobile phone recording app or voice assistant interface. It is another gadget, but is it small, light, discrete (looks like a USB flash drive) and can be hung off of clothing, backpacks, etc. The device also appears sensitive enough to capture distant voices like in a classroom.

Box comes sealed in plastic wrap so you know it should have all the parts it should have.

1.recorder
2.usb controller cord
3.usb a to usb c adapter (ONE adapter, I've seen other versions that have two).
4.wired ear plugs w 3.5mm jack
5.ring to attach the recorder to...something
6.built in "carabiner" to hook to a strap if desired
7.instruction booklet in easy to read (NOT TINY) print

You need a (pc) computer ONLY to set the date stamp as it is an .exe file

ALL other parameters can be set by plugging in to cell or tablet and edit them using note pad if desired. I only used android tablet to test this.

I left the "recommended" settings alone ie as they were set up by mfg.

As a test, I turned the recorder on. Once the unit flashes 3x after the initial power-on flash, I set it down and walked about 25 ft away. I spoke a few words and returned to the recorder and turned it off. I plugged it into my tablet and listened. My voice was a clear as if I was 2 ft away when recorded. Using the plug-in ear plugs, they also worked perfectly.

I have no intention in using this for music playback as I have wireless buds for use with my cell so did not test that.

I erased the recordings using the tablet--no problem.

Plus:
Recording ability at distance is great using mfg settings. You MUST expect some background noise as being unavoidable because of the set sensitivity . That CAN be adjusted.

Neg:
At this price point, there is NO way of erasing any recordings on the unit. Besides no viewing screen, there is no button for erasing. And as for finding a specific recording, again you have to use a pc or cell or tablet to find it. You find the file by noting the time it was recorded.

I knew this going in so am not surprised. I only got this for replacing a pen and paper when I need to take notes and/or while driving or listening to a person speaking and not wanting to miss anything.

Be aware, this WILL pick up stray conversations or someone coughing while the unit is recording.

IMO, this a solid, light-for-its-size (see pic) recorder and I recommend it, subject to the limitations I noted.
