Solid construction, with limitations
So I bought this for my new Samsung Odyssey 49 inch monitor. The other options was the Ergotron for substantially more. So I thought I’d try and economize. This mount is solidly built and easily to install to your desk securely. Unfortunately, the 49’ Samsung weighs more than specs indicate this mount can hold, and they didn’t lie. I read on couple of reviews that stated they just tightened the heck out of the top knuckle, but I didn’t have any success with that. The monitor is securely held in place, except for the inability of the top knuckle to support the weight. Mine is supported on my speakers. If your monitor isn’t as beefy as the Samsung, this is a solid mount. Pay attention the specs, they don’t lie.

The media could not be loaded.
The LGC148 screens weight 34lbs each, which is the weight limit of this arm. I read a number of reviews where people were saying heavy screens require additional support. But I can assure you, these arms can handle the weight. When tightened to the max, I cannot move the monitor arms down at all. So it can easily handle it. That said, it took a lot of time to get everything just right. The tilt adjustment is the most difficult to get right, and while it can hold these screens in place, it's very difficult to get two screens to match up with the same tilt.

I suspect the problem other folks have encountered is that the level of strength required to get the strength correct is beyond normal hands with an allen key. I used a Milwaukee M18 impact driver with torx bits to do the tightening and loosening (strength 2 of 4). The adjustments have an exceptional range of precision. The clamp portion is very large, but enough room to fit through a Magnus Pro XL desk (lighting strip) area without impeding the compartment area.

The cable management is fine. Seems some people didn't know how to set that up either. A little finicky but was able to string two HDMI cables and a power cable with room to spare.

When I ordered them I took a big chance and figured I had a 50% chance of returning them. I also needed 300x200 VESA mounts but these arms only come with 100x100. VIVO sells adapters, but I was able to combine parts from my prior wall mounts to get it to work.

I bought this to install on a new standing desk which, because of the height variations through the day, benefits from a monitor that can likewise be adjusted in terms of both height and angles of view. This unit is metal construction, very sturdy and attaches securely to the desk. It has spring adjustment that can be adjusted depending on the size/weight of the monitor. It includes cable management along the upper arm only. It easily handles my 34 inch widescreen. Range of movement up/down and tilt up/down is smooth and adequate. Range of movement left/right is adequate to the right but limited to the left, which could impact at which exact spot on the desk you place the arm. Otherwise, this is a high quality unit that was well worth the purchase.

5 stars because it works with my Odyssey G9 at about 1/4 of the price of the Ergotron arm that everyone recommends. Sturdy and well built, comprehensive instructions and functional. Includes required tools (allen keys) for assembly, and even has a slot on the back of the clamp to keep the keys.

Cons: cable management isn't great. For G9 owners you will need to crank the ever living snot out of the tilt hinge bolt to get it to hold, and doing so while keeping it at your desired angle can be a real pain. It took me about half an hour of tightening and loosening and re-tightening to finally get it right. I put the box that this arm came in on the desk and let the bottom of the monitor rest on that. Turn the gas spring down so it doesn't lift and then loosen the tilt hinge. Then you can very carefully and gently push down on the arm while supporting the monitor to get the monitor to tilt back/up. My monitor had a lot of play between the vesa mount and the arm so I had to greatly exaggerate this tilt. Tighten the bolt as much as you can and then turn up the gas spring and lift the monitor.

I really hesitated on ordering this or the Ergotron HX. Ended up just taking a chance with this one for a 1/4th of the price and can confirm, it does hold the Samsung Odyssey G9 quite comfortably. A few others said you have to wrench the pivot joint as hard as possible and that's true, you do lose tilt, but it wasn't as hard as I was expecting. I was able to lock it in place using the Allen key alone with no pole extensions for extra torque.

Definitely recommend this one for the price alone! 🙏 I'll post an update in a month as to whether or not it's held out cause that's the true test

EDIT - MARCH 1ST 2023
It's been about a year and it hasn't moved at all. Haven't had to retorque the tilt either, still recommend this as I can move it around as I want and it's 1/4th the price of the ergotron

EDIT - MARCH 20th 2024
It's been 2 years, and the last year its started dropping down. Had to retorque the tilt a bunch and just hit the point where I'm no longer able to get it to hold the weight of the monitor so Im considering this broken now. 2 years for $150 isn't terrible, but if you want something for longer term, go with the ergotron. I was hoping this would last 4 years, not 2

I am not sure how the other people use this monitor arm for 49 inch monitors without any problems, but my experience with this monitor arm has been disappointing. Despite the description claims of being able to support a 49-inch Samsung monitor, it couldn't withstand the weight effectively. While the main arm seems sturdy, the tilting mechanism is not reliable, causing the monitor to constantly tilt downward. This flaw resulted in scratches on the bottom right corner of my monitor when it unexpectedly tilted down and hit the desk. To prevent further damage, I had to improvise by placing the sides of the monitor on speakers, as shown in my photo. However, this workaround means I can't use the monitor arm without the speakers.

Unfortunately, I missed the window for returning it, as I assembled it 30 days after receiving it, due to travel last year. Considering the significant investment in my 1500 CAD monitor, I highly recommend investing in a better monitor arm to avoid similar issues.

I got this arm because my old one was not strong enough to handle my ultrawide monitor. This one has no issues with the monitor's weight. I am happy with it so far. Easy to adjust and the cable management is simple to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great monitor, especially for the price (+49" Odyssey G93SC & Magnus Pro XL Desk info)
Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2024
Size: StandardStyle: Non-USBVerified Purchase
The monitor I am using is the SAMSUNG 49" Odyssey G93SC Series OLED (27.80 lbs). There are different versions of this type of monitor, with minor variations in the back mount. I read all of the reviews where people said this monitor arm would fit the G9, and during installation, those statements came into question.

If you take the factory monitor mount off of this monitor, you cannot directly connect this VIVO Premium Monitor Arm straight to the monitor as is. You will need the black metal wall/VESA mount that comes with the Odyssey monitor. I received my monitor about a month ago and, luckily, held on to it. With this part in hand, installation is rather easy.

As others have noted, there is some sagging taking place with this monitor once installed. I've tightened (greatly, as it seemed to have too much torque) the specific bolt that manages this articulation, and the sagging is no longer present. We will see how this holds over time. I will update this review if I have future issues with sagging. I live rather close to a railroad, so the slight vibrations will really put this bolt to the test. We will see.

The movement of the arm could be better, but for the price, this is great.

To any who has purchased or plans to purchase the SecretLab Magnus Pro XL Desk, this monitor arm definitely fits this desk. During the extensive research of building my office, this was a concern I saw all over the internet. I bit the bullet and purchased this monitor arm without knowing for sure if it would fit or not, a sacrifice for my fellow computer nerds that paid off. Currently, SecretLab does not have a monitor arm for sale that can support a monitor of this weight, but that is supposed to change soon, according to their website. Please do note that you will come across some installation issues when installing this monitor arm to the Magnus Pro XL; luckily, I am here to walk you through that process. *kiss face emoji*

The cable management tray is not too shallow to initially place the monitor arm, but it is too shallow to tighten the bolts on the bottom of the clamp to ensure your arm doesn't slide around. There are at least two ways to tighten the bolts; I know this because I mounted the arm in the center of the desk, fastened the bolts through a rigamarole process, and then realized that the monitor arm needs to sit several inches to the left to properly center the monitor on the desk. The second go around, I found a quicker way that involved tools that didn't come included. Below are both of the methods I used.

How to tighten the clamp on a Magnus Pro XL Desk WITHOUT extra tools::

- You will need to remove the two screws on each side of the desk that hold the cable management tray in place (4 screws total). Then you make your way to the remaining four screws on the bottom of the desk that hold the cable management tray in place. You DO NOT need to completely remove these screws; only loosen each screw a couple of turns, and the tray will sag enough to allow you to get the Allen wrench inside to tighten the monitor arm clamp bolts. Don't make my mistake; ensure that your monitor is positioned on the desk where you want it before tightening these bolts. You don't want to have to do this again. I moved mine 5-6 inches to the left of the center. The center can be found by looking at screw placements on the inside of the cable management tray. Once the bolts are tightened, tighten the 4 screws on the bottom, and reconnect the 4 screws that go on each side.

How to tighten the clamp on a Magnus Pro XL Desk WITH extra tools::

- Take a Dremel tool or any other saw/torch/etc., and cut the Allen wrench to a shorter length. I've included a picture of how short I cut my Allen wrench. This method is 100 times easier than the first.

I gave this monitor arm an overall rating of 5 stars, mostly because of the price. As for Sturdiness, I gave this monitor arm 4 stars due to some crucial parts being plastic, Easy to assemble got 4 stars, and Range of motion got 4 stars.

I would recommend buying this monitor arm, though if you have the patience, the SecretLab Ultrawide Monitor Arm should be available soon; that one will likely be a better quality and also look better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Budget alternative to Ergotron?
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 9, 2023

Like others here, I bought this as an alternative to the expensive Ergotron HX with HD Pivot to mount my 49" Samsung Ultrawide.

The build quality is great, I wasn't expecting it to be quite as hefty for the price. The only issue as other commentors have pointed out is the tilt adjust (i.e. up and down angle adjustment). You have to really crank the bolt to keep the monitor in place, but once its done it seems to stay put. I don't ever intend to adjust the angle so this doesn't bother me at all.

Once set up, its easy to move around and frees up a lot of desk space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good heavy duty arm, supports 42"
Reviewed in Australia on March 23, 2023
Size: StandardStyle: Non-USBVerified Purchase
Bought this to support a 42" TV (LG C2) but also specifically to be able to have it push my monitor as far back off my desk as possible similar to how reports of the Ergotron HX is capable of but without having to spend $400 on a monitor arm.

It is able to support the weight and sit the screen back as desired. The only things I will note are that with such a big monitor, the landscap/portrait rotation becomes really weak so it's easy to knock/adjust it accidentally. But as long as you don't knock it it has stayed stable. I couldn't see a way to tighten that specifically.

Also, for tilting it is similar. I tightened the bolt as much (by hand) as possible, but you have to find a good position for it to "settle in" as it will sag a tiny bit from where you initially set it. However once that's done it is stable.

Vertical wise the gas lift has no problem supporting it with the right tension setting.

Overall a good arm and good value.
