About this item

  • 【Sony STARVIS 2 Real 4K】A139 PRO 2CH with 2023 revolutionary STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor on the front camera, the 4K resolution is superior to most exisiting 4K dash cameras. Featuring real 4K UHD Dual Channel Front and Rear, the dual dash camera is capable of recording videos in 4K front (2160P@30fps) and rear 1080P resolutions. It captures the license plate information clearly in motion both day and night.
  • 【4K HDR Night Vision 2.0】Adopting the most innovated STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor with larger image pixel 1/1.8'', its superior sensitivity enables it to record sharp video, even in low light. In conjunction with an upgraded 7-Glass F1.6 aperture lens and HDR technology, A139 PRO provides a much clearer image at night than most dash cameras, maintaining a sharp image and automatically balancing the lighting over dark areas.
  • 【Faster 5GHz Wi-Fi & GPS】An upgraded 5GHz Wi-Fi connection module is built into the A139 PRO 2CH to provide the fastest Wi-Fi data transfer, ensuring smooth video previewing, downloading and sharing. The two channel dash cam can log the current speed and GPS location with GPS logger, and a time stamp can be embedded in the video.
  • 【Super Slim Coaxial Cable】 The A139 PRO Dash Cam 2 channel uses super slim coaxial cable and miniature connectors for the front and rear interface, making installation easier and more discreet than traditional cable types. Coaxial cable, according to testing, reduces the DAB interference phenomenon better than most car dashboard cameras.
  • 【24H Buffered Parking Mode】The A139 PRO dash cam front and rear offers three parking modes 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When an event is detected, Auto Event Detection will start recording automatically. Time Lapse continuously captures a video at low frame rates such as 1/2/3/5/10/15 fps. Low bitrate continuous recording in a mini file. Parking mode is available for both front and rear cameras.
  • 【Anti-Glare CPL Included & Voice Notification】 The CPL (Circular Polarizing Lens) is mounted on the dashcam's front lens to reduce reflections and glare from glass and road surfaces, resulting in significantly improved image quality and contrast in many situations. When you set the car camera or the camera has an error while recording, it will speak in English to remind you of the camera's status, assist you in properly completing the setup wizard, and diagnose issues.

The front camera’s image quality is absolutely amazing, but the rear camera looks more like 720p, also the rear camera cable is too short. The time stamp pretty much always inaccurate, doesn’t matter how much time I sync it with my phone. The live view won’t work most of the time (maybe it’s iPhone’s problem). I really hope they can fix these bugs with firmware update. 4.8 stars for the hardware & image quality, 3 stars for the app & firmwareUpdate: The app sucks so much it’s basically unusable, I was hoping they might release updates to make it better, but they never bothered to update the app, disappointingAnother update:Just don’t buy this camera, very disappointed, didn’t even last for a year, I went through 2 brand new high endurance memory cards (Sandisk & Samsung) in the past week, lots files kept missing and damaged. As someone who spends a significant amount of time on the road, I've realized the importance of having a reliable eyewitness. That's exactly what this car video camera has been for me. Its exceptional quality and great performance have exceeded my expectations.

Recently, I found myself in a situation where I was stopped for allegedly not adhering to a stop sign. Despite being certain that I had come to a complete stop for the required time, I had no evidence to support my claim. This incident was a turning point for me, highlighting the value of having a video record to back up my version of events.

Since installing this camera, I've been able to drive with an added layer of security, knowing that every moment is captured with clarity. It's an indispensable tool for any driver who wants to ensure their side of the story is always available, should any incidents arise. I wholeheartedly recommend this camera for its dependability and peace of mind it brings.

I can't compare to other brands as this is the only one I got.
Caméra randomly stops working at night in some lower quality settings.
I have loads of footage of bad drivers but in none you'll be able to see the license plate, therefore you are better of with any 1080p 60fps dashcam.

To preface this, my competing brand's dashcam recently stopped working. Unfortunately, I had it hardwired to so it was quite a mission to remove it and then reinstall this one. To hardwire this dashcamera, a separate hardwire kit is required.

The camera itself is of a better quality than the one it replaces. Night vision could use some improvement but it once again has a better sensor so it produces clearer results.

Parking mode, now that it is hardwired, works well. At first I thought I had made a mistake because there was no indiciation it was recording in parking mode. Alas after checking the memory, all my parking recordings were saved! Hopefully in a future software update they allow one of the lights to blink while in parking mode for reassurance.

Lastly, connectivity over wifi is good. The app is fluid and easy to use. Most videos render quite quickly.

I really hope to get at least 5-10 years out of this camera but time will tell I suppose.

When it works, great quality. However, the recorder will stop working after 1-2 weeks of recording. The lights are still on but the machine doesn’t respond to buttons and it doesn’t record. Even the cheapest recorder is better than one that isn’t recording.

Waiting for customer service to promptly send replacement. Will update when resolved.

I purchased direct from the VIOFO website. Like others, overheated and quit. Lowered video recording quality and it lasted a little longer until summer then quit. Support asks me to unplug this and change that to trouble shoot but has not provided any solutions or replacements. I think they’re kicking the warranty can down the road as long as they can. Would not recommend this dashcam.

I was able to quickly use a pole snake to get the camera cable from the back to the front to connect to the Camera. Then I ran the power wires for the hard wire kit down the front windshield pillar to the fuse box. I used the quick taps that I purchased and got battery & ACC power for the camera. I formatted the 256 GB SD card and installed it. It is a little difficult to install the SD card as I had to use a small screwdriver to fully get it to click into the Camera. The Camera video is good unless the sun is very bright and low in the sky. The app works great but you have to stop recording to access the videos. You can watch live video on your device which can be distracting. I have a mobile hot spot in my car so if I connect to the camera I can not access the internet on my phone. I have to disconnect from the camera to get internet back on my phone. Not a big deal but its an annoyance. Overall great product purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works! Happy with cameras, playback is a bit wonky

I am updating this review after successfully installing the camera in my vehicle and using it for a couple of months. Overall I am impressed with this camera and would purchase it again. The front and back cameras both work well and take good quality videos. It's nice to know that if something bad happens on the road I will likely be able to have a recording of the event, and possibly be able to locate a vehicle in the case of a hit and run. There has been an increase in crazy driving where I live, so having a dash cam is essential. I have heard many stories of drivers causing accidents and lying about their actions, and without video evidence they may not be held accountable.

The camera has reliably turned on when I turn on my car, and in the couple of months that I have used it, it only lost power once while I was driving for no apparent reason. I just happened to notice that the indicator lights were off, so I unplugged it and plugged it in again and it went back on and worked normally. I am pretty certain that was the only time that happened - the camera has a distinctive (and I think pleasant) sound when it powers on and off, and it seems to have worked normally all other times. I have an electric vehicle (Bolt EUV) which may have affected the power source in some way.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the software interface for viewing videos is not great. For some reason, I cannot view footage from the front camera directly on the app- I need to download each video that I want to review to my phone and view it from a different app on my phone. It's not too hard to do this, but it means I have to spend extra time in the car to download the videos. It would be possible to remove the SD card and put it in my computer to view the videos, but that seems like a bigger hassle. If I needed to find a particular video segment and I wasn't sure where it was that would probably be necessary. For some reason, I am able to view videos from the rear camera on the app without downloading the files to my phone - it's too bad the front camera doesn't work this way, that would be much better.

Also, connecting my phone to the camera via WiFi is not perfectly seamless, but that's mostly due to the connection between my phone and the car overpowering the signal - I have to disconnect android auto to make it work, and even then it can be dodgy.

The initial installation was not very hard, once I learned that the short USB power cord included in the box doesn't work- you have to use the long cable to power the device. I am having some issues with the cable coming out from the car's upholstery in one place, but I think that's an issue with my car and it's not a big deal, I just tuck it back in every so often - it would be the same with any dash cam.

The photos included with this review are screenshots, the one that shows the road is from the front camera, after downloading the video to my phone and replaying it on Google photos, paused for the screenshot. It was taken on a cloudy rainy day so this is the image with the windshield wipers running. The map image is a screenshot of the video playback screen from the app after downloading the video and disconnecting the phone from the camera- it won't play the video whether I have downloaded it or try to play directly while connected to the camera.

Old review begins here:
I received an email from the manufacturer, and I was using the wrong power cord. Now I am able to set the device up, and I will update this review again after I have fully installed it on how it functions.

I am trying to perform the initial set up and test that it works in my car before mounting the camera on my dashboard, and it's not performing as the manual describes. I may have received a faulty device, but I am not sure. I tried posting to the forum on the Viofo website and get a "server unavailable" message. This doesn't bode well. I will post an update if I receive support and things improve.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable
Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2023

Yes it has nice picture but is not really helpful when it fails recording of any impact.

I’ve recently purchased A139Pro, and installed to my vehicle and put 64GB memory card on it.
Somebody rear-ended me a couple hours ago and guess what, there is no record of the impact. It supposed to record and lock that file! It has a 5 seconds of recording after the incident just before i turned the car off. And there is 50seconds gap in between with the previous recording. i have no record of the vehicle approaching nor the impact after spending $300+ on a dashcam just to feel the comfort of having proof on such a situation.

I’ve also just realized it’s missing some other recordings. It has no record of any drive within last 5 days. I, sure, had a few trips to some places. It has some (not all) recordings from 5 days ago, and nothing prior. This is also a red flag about its reliability. (Memory card still has more than 50GB space available)

Another problem with the device is wifi connectivity. Sometimes wifi is not even listed on your phone even though the wifi light is on on the device. Sometimes you are able to connect to its wifi but the VIOFO app is not able to connect to the device and keep asking you to join its wifi network still 🤷‍♂️ turning the car off and back on doesnt really help, (I think) since i have it hardwired. I was able to make it work after disconnecting the power cord and re-connecting it. This also took a few attempts.

Additionally, If you’re lucky to connect to the device through the app, you’re not able to reach to the recordings while the device is actively recording. and when you try to stop recording, it takes such a long time and comes back with a connectivity error 90% of the time and the app becomes unresponsive for a while.

I don’t recommend A139Pro to anyone, will be returning mine. I dont know about the other dashcam models but with the current version of VIOFO app (v3.5) I guessing the experience will be similar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good features, easy to install, good camera

This installed in a fairly straightforward manner in my car. I used the self adhesive 3m pads (included) to attach it, plus added a hardwired in USB-C kit from the manufacturer (ordered separately). Otherwise you can use the cigarette lighter USB-C power plug that comes with the kit. I would recommend you see if there is an install video for your particular car on youtube; I found one and it really helped with figuring out the best path for the permanent wiring. The rear camera uses a very narrow cable to attach it, which makes it easier to find a path through the car. Be careful if you wire it up NOT to block any side airbags in your car. Some other cameras use a USB-C connection for a rearward facing camera, which usually means a thicker cable for that run. Before installing with the 3m pad, do a rough placement and view the video output so you select a place that doesn't have anything blocking its lens, and also doesn't obstruct your view as a driver...test carefully before locking it down.

There is a great deal of information on the product page for this item, but what I didn't notice, and still haven't, is the need to purchase a separate SD/micro SD card (not sure yet which it takes). There is no "Frequently purchased together" listing that includes a card. I know it's my fault for assuming there was one in the box. That said, looking at the manual, it highly recommends you use a Viofo branded SD card, as they are specifically designed to work well with the system. You know what ISN'T listed anywhere in the Viofo store on Amazon? SD cards of any kind, never mind Viofo branded ones. I'll (probably) update this review once I've got things installed and tested.

Update (7-11-23): Having had a chance to use this product for a few weeks, I have some information to share. First, Viofo has been very proactive in trying to help me, offering me a 128 GB card if it would solve my problem, and more likely, influence my decision about updating my review. I did not accept the card, so I can feel free to say what I think. And I think that despite not taking the card, Viofo has been responsive, and that is good.

Second, the camera itself... Installation was easy once I understood the installation materials. That is, they include a couple of transparent static cling sheets that you can stick the camera(s) to and then place the sheet on the window. The idea is that the static cling sheet can be removed and replaced. However, there was almost no mention of these materials in the documentation, and figuring out what they were for was a challenge. The cameras (front and rear) both capture clean, clear video, as you would expect.

Additionally, there seems to be an issue with retrieving video. You *could* just take the storage card out and move the files that way (I assume), but the preferred way seems to be connecting to the camera via wifi and downloading the video (if you need to). This is where I have my biggest issue. No matter how I try, the wifi signal from the camera will only show up as a network on my phone...sometimes. Not all the time. When it does show up and I can connect to it, the signal is so weak, it often fails work well enough for the Viofo app to connect. And when the planets and stars align and everything works, the transfer rate between camera and phone is very, very slow.

Finally, sometimes while driving, the camera will just announce that "wifi has been disabled". No idea what causes this. It doesn't stop the recording, and you can turn wifi back on again, but it is odd that it just randomly does this.

To summarize, the image quality is great. The camera reliably records video. Once installed, things are mostly okay. The GPS data does overlay onto the video as long as GPS data is available (doesn't work in a parking garage for example). The installation is easy enough if you dig around for the missing info. The app though... whether it is exclusively the app, or maybe the wifi part of the hardware factors in, but monitoring the video and looking at recordings is...challenging. Overall, things are okay. Not great, just okay.
