Overall the Viofo HK4 is an easy to install hardwire kit for my A229 Plus. It works with my iVolt Mini and parking mode works great! However, installation can be sort of tight because of the ferrite core near the USB-C plug. So you have to find a way creatively stuff it into your headliner.

Now a days companies making their own hardwire kits to let you use the parking mode, which is not the case not long ago.

If company wants to make more money by selling/forcing to customers to buy their products then it needs to be perfect. This is not the case for me for this product.

Parking mode works but BATTERY PROTECTION not so much. It will drain your battery and leaves you to jump start the car. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I tried different fuse taps, different fuses. Paid professionals to properly install so I don’t mess up, but nope.

So only way to avoid the issue is to unplug the camera if you are planning to leave the car for more than 5-7 hours. Which I am ok to when I am home so I am not jump starting the car on a cold winter day.

I bought this along with low profile fuse taps. Was able to install the cables behind the pillars and into the car’s fuse box. Now the camera doesn’t need to be plugged into the USB or power port, keeping them free for other devices.
The battery voltage switch is a great feature to stop powering the camera (when the car is off) should the battery reach the level indicated on the switch.
This is the third car I install one of these on, and so far, no issues.
