I just love UMIDIGI rugged cell phones. I should apply to be on the pre-release testing team for DURABILITY. I've dropped my original BISON on the floor, on the pavement, in the dirt, out of the car, and even out of a 5-ton truck (not-recommended). I've tried nearly every way possible to destroy my first Bison and it still works and looks like the day I bought it when the screen cover is replaced, a few nicks and that's about it. I've used it in the rain, dropped it in the snow and even a couple of puddles, and other than a temporary sound issues, which fixed itself after drying, I've been using my original Bison for almost 3 years, and I still love it.Since then, UMIDIGI has come out with several other rugged offers including the 5G Bison GT2 and GT2 Pro, and the 5G UMIDIGI Mecha as well as the 4G X10 and X20. I chose the X20 because I wanted Android 13, the price was right and 5G has not really taken hold in my province. Why not take advantage of a waning 4G market until 5G becomes available everywhere. As with most UMIDIGI rugged phones, the X20 has an IP68 rating. It's drop-proof to 4 feet, waterproof and even has an underwater camera mode (up to 1.5 feet), and dust-proof which is great for days at the beach whether you’re in or out of the water. This summer, i intend to test this one the same way I did my other Bison -- by forgetting where it is and dropping it at will. I'm confident it will survive and thrive.The processor is a very solid MediaTek Helio P60, Octa-Core Processor that has 4-2 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4-2 GHz Cortex-A53 processors on-board. It's a mid-level processor which provides very smooth computing whether your playing, communicating, creating or multitasking, and provides all the power the average user needs.The X20 has 6GB of installed RAM. This is sufficient for most average users, in fact it's probably lots. If you noticed it comes with 12GB in the description, this is because Android 13 has a Memory Expansion option (it must be turned on in settings) that uses an equal amount of your storage space or ROM as RAM. Now if you know don't know anything about RAM vs ROM (storage) speeds, RAM is almost instantaneous where storage is slower in comparison. However, if a memory-intensive app pushes your 6GB of ram, the expanded ram will jump in and allow your app to continue. I have not yet had a ram issue, frozen app or even so much as a stutter while using this device, and really that's the main goal.The X20 comes with 128 GB ROM storage which is plenty. I consider myself to be an average to intermediate user and I'm currently using about 40 GB or about 1/3 of my storage. This includes 20GB in apps, 8GB of movies and audio, 2GB of pictures, and don't forget, the first 9.5GB is required for your Android 13 operating system. If you chose to use the Memory Expansion, 6 more GB will be reserved for that too. Not to worry though, you’re at less than half capacity and you can add up to 1TB (1,000GB) with a micro-SD Card slot in the phone. If you install an SD card, my recommendation is to install your apps and games on the phone's internal memory and use the SD card for files, documents, music, and videos. Your apps will run better this way as ROM is faster than SD card memory.The BISON X20 comes with two sim card slots. One slot is a dedicated sim card slot and the other will accept either a second sim or a micro-SD card. If you don't need more storage, the second sim slot can allow you to carry two phone numbers, like a work number and a personal number, on the same device. This is much better than having to carry two devices. I could only imagine how many times I'd drop my phone if I carried two all day. You can also combine a phone/text plan and a data-only plans on the device. A no data plan and a Data only plans can be an inexpensive option if you're a high-volume data user.The 6000mAh battery is lasting me about two days on a charge. However, I usually charge my phone every night, so I tested it during an 18-hour period. On FULL brightness, the X20 had 37% battery life after 18 hours; at half, the device had 48% left; and at minimum brightness, the phone maintained 61% of it's battery life after the full day. On an average day, using the appropriate brightness level for the conditions, I was left with 51% after an 18-hour day.As with ALL UMIDIGI Tablets and Cell Phones, the BISON X20 is compatible with all North American Cell Networks. Myself, I'm connected through Public Mobile which is owned by Telus and operates on the Bell/Telus Network, so you can feel secure that it will work for Bell, Virgin, Chatr, Telus, Koodo and PM. Really, I haven't heard any issues connecting with any Canadian provider with an UMIDIGI device, but you may have to enter the proper APN settings manually in some cases. No APN adjustments were required for this device on PM.If you want a worry-free, smooth, durable and reliable cell phone that won't let you down or break the bank, consider the UMIDIGI BISONX20.Note: In the pictures of the two phones, my old Bison is on the left and the new X20 on the right.
