It's a weird product and thus really niche. This light is appropriately called a flashlight because that's essentially what it is: a 3 COB flashlight with the bulbous front lens that creates a pretty intense color degradation around the edges. You do have the "zoom" feature too if you want to further make the light circle smaller.

The overall visual effects this light makes is somewhat akin to those "sunset lamps" people talk about on TikTok, which can achieve a certain vibe but is overall a really specific and niche lighting effect. This one does allow a few color temperature changes and 3 output levels (1, 2 or 3 COBs lit), while being battery powered.

What comes to save the product a little is the diffuser cone it comes included with. This cone diffuses the light in a fairly uniform way, with a little bit of a very faint circular shadow due to its shape, which makes it a lot more pleasing for a more even lighting. It also turns this flashlight into a torch thanks to how wide the diffuser scatters the light.

So if this kind of light meets your needs, great! But I think for most people this product is sadly a bit too niche to make good use of over a similarly priced video light. What about using it as a day to day or camping flashlight? You could, it just doesn't have water resistance slated in its documentations so use it with care. The diffusion cone is absolutely excellent to light up rooms though, albeit dimly due to the loss of light transmission.

As a photographer and videographer with a self-proclaimed addiction to lighting equipment, I'm always attracted to versatile lighting equipment. I have so many lighting equipment that I probably need an inventory of the things that I need vs things that must go. Ulanzi has consistently impressed me with their budget-friendly yet capable gear, so when I saw the LM07 I couldn't resist.

Right out of the box, the LM07's sturdy aluminum alloy construction felt reassuringly solid in my hand. Despite its robust build, it remains remarkably lightweight, making it a welcome addition to my already overflowing gear bag.

The real test, however, was in its lighting performance. With a high CRI of 95+, I put the LM07 through its paces in various shooting scenarios, adjusting the color temperature from 2500K to 8000K to match different ambient lighting conditions. It consistently delivered excellent illumination, and the adjustable brightness levels produced a flicker-free output in all my tests. The 120° beam angle proved particularly useful for close-up work, providing wide coverage and minimizing harsh shadows.

The OLED display was a nice touch, offering clear feedback on settings and allowing me to fine-tune parameters easily. While the rechargeable lithium-ion battery provided roughly two hours of continuous use, I found that higher brightness settings understandably drained the battery more quickly.

Versatility is where the LM07 shines. It's compact enough to slip into a pocket or attach to a camera hot shoe, making it ideal for both on-the-go shoots and more controlled studio setups. While it might not be powerful enough for outdoor use, it excels as a backlight or fill light, adding that extra touch of polish to my photos and videos.

 I was hoping this light stick would be able to provide sufficient light to take photos of people and objects in a relatively dim room, but it is not great for that purpose. I might be best when you are shooting within a couple of feet and are trying to illuminate smaller items. It does have some interesting features including narrow and wide beam focus, the diffuser, three light temperatures, different brightness settings, and you can attach it to a tripod. It’s easy to charge and easy to use. In the video I included, I tried to cycle through the different lights, brightnesses, and the focused beam. My iPhone camera was automatically adjusting the brightness, but you can see the colouring and beam focus.
