For me its main use is art. Even tracing a drawing onto heavy watercolour paper is no problem.
One really great thing is that there's no lip on the edges of the pad to get in the way, it's completely smooth and even, so tracing with larger pieces of paper works well... you just move them as you go.
I use it with an adapter like this one which I already had, so no need for a laptop etc.

PS After several months I had a problem with the light pad. I contacted the seller who replied immediately and resolved it the next day. I'm very happy with the outcome and glad to be using the light pad in my work again, with hardly any delay!

I love this product. This is the second LED light box I've had. This product is very sturdy board yet light weight board that I am not afraid to throw into my backpack and carry it around. LED has three mode and seems to be much brighter than my old one. It comes with magnets and makes it handy for me to hold the paper in-place. Otherwise, i use a stronger clips if I need more precision. I like the ruler guide on the top and left side of the board that makes it handy for quick measurement.
One friendly recommendation, I attach a USB power bank to power up the board. This makes it portable that I don't need to be around my laptop or desktop computer.

A few months later, Amazon Prime Day came around and I had an extra $10 coupon from Whole Foods I needed to use. I was browsing for some art supplies and spotted a picture of an LED light pad. I never thought of looking at LED light boards before as it never crossed my mind someone had already invented them! Wow! It was very affordable and looked surprisingly thin. I must have it so I can get busy with creating more artwork! I selected this A4 LED Copy Board Light Pad and received it within a few days in a bubble manila envelope.
I was a little worried if the shipping handled the product roughly, but found out the light pad already comes inside a sturdy cardboard box. When I opened the box, the light pad came with an USB cord and two magnets to hold the papers onto the surface which I find it convenient.
I plugged it in and tested the light pad. Whoa! Solid source of light! Not like those patchy lights you get from DIY and clunky light boxes with fluorescent tube lights. Even, smooth and bright luminescence that does not bother the eyes. I am happy there are 3 levels of brightness, so that adds a bit of flexibility with the variety of material that’s being worked on. I tested it during the day and used the brightest setting to be able to trace. At night time, I use the lowest setting because it was bright enough. I find that I prefer working on the light pad in a darker room. The light pad feels sturdy to draw on. I took a couple of pictures of a logo I am working on for my ceramics, and sorry if the pics are a little dark, but you gotta see how bright it is at the lowest setting at nighttime! 😍
There is only two small issues I have with the light pad. The power button to turn on and off the light is very, very sensitive. One tiny, slight touch and the button activates instantly. If my hand or fingertip accidentally brushes against the button while I am drawing or moving the paper around, it turns off the pad or changes to the next brightness. It would probably be more convenient if the button was built on the same spot on the pad but on the backside under the light pad so it won’t accidentally turn off or suddenly switch to the next bright setting. Since the light pad would already be on the table top or drawing board and if the power button was under, it won’t be accidentally touched. The second issue I have is that I wish the micro-USB B connector was in an L-shaped plug to insert into the light pad so it would be easier to keep the cord in line with the edge of the light pad. Since the connector is sticking straight out, it runs into the risk of being bent and snapping off if you are not careful. I know I will be careful, the micro-USB connector plug won’t be a major issue for me, and I don’t have kids in this household. 😆
Overall, I am very excited and extremely happy with this light pad! It’s affordable, lightweight, very thin and, most importantly, bright. Can’t wait to start creating for different art mediums again! ✏️📄💡🎨🖌
