I enjoy metal detecting. This microscope makes the experience a smig better.
I don't know if the magnification is as great as it says, but it is very strong. When examining a new "find" I can easily discern details I could not clearly see with a loupe. I have zoomed in right to the level where a single sand grain was large and clear. I really value being able to take snapshots that I can post to discuss with other nerds. The lighting on this is strong and effective. you can adjust them and move them around to expose hidden relief or to wash an object in light.

Great for the price, with 2 caveats
This is a great product for the price. It has an almost no-delay viewing on its screen and I was able to solder pins to the boards with ease.Pros:- Can be used as a webcam on Windows 10 with no need for the drivers to be installed.- Comes with a flash memory to store pictures and videos. In fact, I used those images to focus stack multiple images of a very small bug!- It can be powered and charged via USB. You get brighter leds when connected to a usb power source.- It comes with a wired controller, so when you're trying to take pictures you don't have to worry about shaky images.- Has a very good zoom level.Cons:- It has a short neck, so you'd need to purchase microphone extension tubes if you want to get a more zoomed out view of things. There is a taller version listed in the production description but I have contacted the seller and they said it is unfortunately discontinued.- Controlling the light angle can be difficult and there is a auto-level brightness that can make things less sharp.- No hooks to hold the objects in place.- Extremely poor image compression when taking pictures (attached). You can see the compression mosaics. Everything looks better on its screen but when viewing pictures with a computer you can immediately tell the difference.- There is a blue tint that is apparent when viewing live.- When live viewing, if you set a higher resolution in the options, it will simply stretch the image to fit the screen so the ratios go out of proportions (pictures attached).Do I recommend it for a hobbyist ?YesDo I recommend it for precision video and picture documentation?No
