Here's a Tip for Software Downloads and Donner Essential B1 Troubleshooting

We have compiled an Installation Manual (PDF) document that is located at the end of the listing under Product guides and documents. Please ask Donner Online Customer Team (US) through the Product Order Page if you have any questions!

If you are facing issues while using Essential B1, here are some troubleshooting strategies you can follow:

  • Q1. My Essential B1 could power on, but not work properly, like only outputting one specific pitch no matter what I do…
  • A1. For most of the odd situations caused by software, performing a Factory Reset can solve the problems. To do this, you will need to press and hold the B1, C2, D2 and E2 buttons simultaneously while power up the device. Patterns in the device won’t be effected by the Factory Reset.
  • Q2. My Essential B1 could not power on.
  • A2. If your Essential B1 could not power on, please:

  1. Make sure you are using the power supply included in the package.
  2. Check your power outlet, see if it is working.
  3. Feel free to contact Donner Online Customer Team (US) through the Product Order Page for more support.

Surprisingly good sound, good functionality. It's a good deal at the regular price, when it's on a nicely discounted sale it's a steal. Love it.

This is an amazing budget synth for beginners. Just got finished my first jam session with it. Sounds great, very easy to set up and start playing immediately. Definitely would recommend this to anyone wanting a budget friendly synth. Only complaint is the pads are a bit wiggly and close together which can make playing slightly awkward. Other than that it's brilliant!

It's pretty much a Roland td-303... But has the massive perc of midi input, so you can control with keyboard keys... awesome unit. First day I had it, made 5 beats with it in a 3 hour span.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acid Trippin'

So I needed this little bass synth like I needed a another hole in my head, but when a promotional discount popped up, I couldn’t resist.

This device is very simple, has a fun feature set (mine came loaded with the latest firmware, version 1.1.0 as of this writing) and most importantly, sounds awesome!

Compared to similar sounding devices, which can be a bit intimidating to work with, Donner is to be commended for the clean design and easy operation of this instrument.

If you want to sequence some classic acid bass sounds and want the easiest path to get there, at a bargain price, this is the one. :)

I was on the fence but we needed a small bass synth in our set up and it was on sale and I liked the reviews. I use this this with a keystep pro as the controller ans sequencer. I’m going for sound and sound shaping options but not so much interested in the sequencer. It sounds amazing and what I was looking for. I wish I would have bought it sooner. Easy to shape sound and intuitive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding TB-303 knockoff, but noisy

Significantly easier to program than an original 303. Sonically....is it an EXACT match? I don't know, and I don't really care. It's got the right vibe and feel, capable of deep, earth-shaking bass and squelchy fat leads, with sick analog oscillators, filters, and controls.

I had a Roland TB-3 prior to this, and there were things about the TB-3 interface that were cool, but it was complicated to program actual basslines and melodies, and the touchscreen interface was better at real-time modulation than composition/performance, for me. I like the Donner interface much better.

One downside is there is a faint but audible hiss, instead of dead silence, when this machine is not making music. In a live context it would probably be unnoticeable, but in a studio recording, you would want to gate it or noise-remove it after recording.
