Sandbag Usage

Fillings

  • Sandbags can withstand both gravel or sand.
  • Sandbag file with gravel are used as an erosion control device (on slopes). Sand should be filled for flood control needs, whether to protect doors,tunnels,row covers, silage tarpsgarage or to divert water.

Filling Instruction

  1. Fill sandbags 1/2 o 2/3 full and tie the bag at the top (lay flat when in place).
  2. Always wear PPEs during filling operation to avoid injuries .
  3. Use 2# rounded point shovel to fill sandbags.
  4. Take care when lifting the sandbag, to avoid injury.

  • Do not tie the top of the sandbag.
  • Do not over fill the sandbag as it will be too heavy to carry.
  • Do not throw sandbags.

I ordered this item a couple of years ago to fill with sand to use to weight down our trampoline and they work great. I’ve bought other kinds, and these ones seem to last longer.
I needed some more to weigh down something else, so I went back in my orders and selected “order again”. The bags that came are similar as far as the material and I hope the quality, but they are a bigger size.
I was still able to use them for what I wanted, but I was disappointed that the size changed.
Which is why I’m giving four stars

Most bags made for sand will not be 100% air tight, or even sand tight. Use a good quality garbage bag inserted into each one that is then duct tape sealed then the sand bag tied. Run good qualityduct tape both sides of the sewn seam on the same bag to prevent it from opening. You can also use this quality exterior glue or caulking on the seam. I bought playsand which was supplied good bag already but the extra garbage bag I used was good enough. Use the ties supplied with good quality duct tape wrapped around that.

The bags look good. However they are sown with I think it is cotton or some other natural material base string.
I do not believe it will last as long as the bag should. The ties that came are also made from the same material.
To use for my project I may have to resew the bottoms to make sure my sand doesn't escape. I am also ordering black zip ties to use instead of the strings sent to tie the bags. I had yet to use the bags themselves.

I thought these bags were rather small until if filled them with gravel. Any bigger and i would have been unable to lift.
Ties to close the bag are provided but I had trouble tying and keeping them in place so used appropriately sized cable ties which was far easier and more secure.
