Solidly built - Be warned this will not fit in your Tripp Lite 18in Wall Mount cabinet. .... This is too deep for that cabinet.

I got StarTech UNIRAILS1U 1U Fixed 19" Adjustable Depth instead that I had to do small modifications to make it fit in my cabinet.

Other than that it is very sturdy and solid built.

The rack arrived as described in the product description. Please note the shelf is 27 1/2 inches long with brackets that can be extended. 1 star deducted for the cost - seems a bit expensive for a simple metal shelf. Overall a good shelf Albeit a bit pricey.

Fit well in my Dell 2440 rack.

This is a beautifully made, sturdy, and high quality shelf. The description says that it is an adjustable depth shelf of between 19.5 to 38 inches. To me (and I would think to many others, too), that description means that the shelf surface is adjustable. But that is not the case. The shelf itself has a fixed depth of about 27.5 inches. It's only the side attachments that can be adjusted for rack depths between the stated 19.5 to 38 inches. I am very disappointed that I will not be able to use this well-built shelf, and I am unhappy that I didn't catch this characteristic of the shelf before ordering it. The description should be changed to something that will avoid this type of potential confusion.

Currently, I have 3x StarTech 1U Shelves (250lbs - Vented) mounted in my StarTech 25U Open Frame Server Rack. While they are certainly sturdy, and they hold the advertised weight without bending, bowing, or sagging, installation is more difficult than it should be. The shelves use rack ears instead of rails, thus adjusting to fit requires a bit of pre-planning. Additionally, using nuts in place of rails makes adjusting the shelf, once mounted, a major pain as you need to losen or remove them from each ear before those adjustments can be made (making sure you remove whatever the shelf is holding beforehand).

As a general recommendation, if you do intend to place full load on the shelf, I would recommend upgrading the nuts to something similarly sized to the holes in the shelf. As noted above, the shelves do hold the advertised weight, though the nuts are pretty small and there's only 6-8 keeping the shelf mounted to the ears. In my case, that means 6-8 nuts holding 250 lbs.

If you're new to rack mounted shelves, or you have an enclosed rack, I would highly recommend removing the ears from the shelf and mounting them first. Once mounted, slide the shelf through from front to back. This allows you to easily install the nuts, and if you do have an enclosed rack, it allows you to bring them closer to the middle of the shelf where there's more room for tightening.

All things considered, however, these shelves are not really designed to be moved often and my complaints wouldn't stop me from buying another. Despite the rather difficult mounting requirements and a lack of rails, the shelves are solid, fit the bill for my needs, and come highly recommended.

Very solid shelf. It was quite a pain to place in the cabinet by myself but once do it is very solid. The shelf runners can adjust to enable you to fit into a range of cabinets just not though though that they adjustments can only be done prior to fitting.
