This fountain has 360-degree water access which lets your pet drink from any side they choose. The ultra-quiet design of this stainless-steel fountain causes the water to softly bubble over the tower (instead of a falling stream) which is great for even the shyest cats. To preface, I previously owned a Petsafe fountain that was made of grey plastic and over two years the plastic started to deteriorate and was just a pain to clean, because of the pipe system.Now on with the review! The seaside stainless steel is simple to assemble out of the box and whisper quite. Since I've owned a previous Petsafe fountain all the replaceable items (charcoal filter, debris filter and water pump) can be used with this model as well. There are no pipes under the protruding spout. in fact, I was surprised to find that the spout connects directly to the charcoal filter housing. Simple! What's also simple is cleaning the unit just requires washing the base and spout. I love it, my cats love it. it's also not bad to look at. I would highly suggest getting the stainless steel fountain line from Petsafe.

Edit to add...June 2023 Still works perfect. Our old cat died (age 18) but the fountain is still working and used daily by the other two cats and the dog (I can't believe we thought we'd be able to stop her from drinking from the cats fountain)

Edit to add... July 2016. we've now had this fountain for 3 years and it's still much loved and going strong. Great purchase!

We bought this to please our older cat who only liked drinking from the bathroom sink tap, and he'd want you to turn the tap on and leave the room before he'd drink. So after moving to a new house with wall mounted sink and watching him struggle to perch on the edge we thought we better find a better way. We researched a few fountains and decided on this one. We have had it for a month now and are very pleased with it. It does require topping up everyday and I wash it once a week but it's no more work than a regular dish of water. Less, perhaps, because if you forget to fill it the poor cat isn't going without water. The only downside is that it is quite large, about 13" in diameter and obviously needs to be near a plug in. It isn't very loud, doesn't annoy me anyway (and I'm someone who gets annoyed with noises).

Best of all, our cats both love it. The old cat drinks out of it, never asks to drinks out of the sink anymore. Both of them drink right of the top where the water comes out. The younger cat also treats it as his personal water playground and it isn't unusual to find him asleep with his head against it or his paw in it. Sometimes he puts his toys in it and then fishes them out.

It was worth the money and we don't regret purchasing it at all. As long as it lasts at least a year we will replace it will the same model.

It took a few days for the cats to warm up to the unit, even though it is incredibly silent. Once they did, they really loved drinking from it. One of my cats has a habit of dipping her feet in her water dish, which contaminates it quickly, but to my surprise, she lapped the cold water up fresh from the bowl - a first! The only thing i would change about this item is to make it a bit smaller so it takes up less space and is more cat sized. The stainless steel is easy to clean and I feel confident knowing the water level is sustained for 10 days before I have to top it up and clean it at the 2 week mark. Way more convenient!

It's sleek and simple. I hate anything plastic for my cats, so this feels nice and clean. It went together easily and is easy to clean. One cat took to it right away - I haven't actually SEEN the other two drinking from it, but they don't seem scared of it or anything, so they probably are. I'm currently sitting right beside it in a quiet house and it makes a very pleasant running water sound - really soft, and no motor noise. Super happy! Update - 2 cats for sure using it all the time. I can tell from the litterbox everyone is much better hydrated - that was the goal!

Very disappointed with this product. Motor is cheaply made for such an expensive water fountain and has broken down in less than a year. Not as quiet as I would have liked. Not as easy to assemble or clean. Overall, I would recommend going for a cheaper water fountain than this one.

 I waited until I had it for a few weeks to review. I bought this one in particular because my cat took apart the Catit flower one every day and warped my hardwood floors when the water would flood out. This one looked industrial and there weren’t any pieces he could really grab onto. So far so good!

It is quiet; it has a low motor sound and kind of a slight babbling brook quality to it which I don’t mind especially since it’s in our kitchen.

You do need to replace two filters which I found kind of odd. From what I can tell, you replace the more expensive filter once a month and the cheaper one every two weeks.
