To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Works great and as expected. Only had an issue that it wouldn't connect to my phone because it was in developer mode, so it's a bit annoying that I need to turn that off when I want to use the Square. Other than that, no issues, and the app is easy to use.
Exactly what I was looking for. Set up and connected to my bank in under 5 mins. It disconnects from the app once u connect to update but leave app open as it says and it works perfect after.
I’m a massage therapist and it wonderful to be able to accept debit and credit cards. This works seamlessly! Sends professional receipts through text or email. No monthly fees, you only pay a percentage of purchases depending on if it’s credit or debit. Such a great purchase!
This reader does everything it promises to, and is very easy to set up and use. The only thing I really dislike about it and was quite surprised to learn, is that you can't power it off at all once it's been set up initially. While researching this issue, I found support threads full of people complaining about this, and Square's response is that it's better this way for some reason. So the built in battery will just be constantly in sleep mode and running itself empty, needing to be recharged frequently even if you're not using it often. And because it's constantly on, my phone is constantly trying to connect to it. I really only need it for weekend use, so it's not optimal to be running power through it and having it try to connect 24/7. But other than that, it's very good and I would reccomend it.
I thought it was broken because it didn't work with my LG velvet, and I returned the first one the second one was no better but I tried it with my Samsung tab A and it worked just fine.
This is my first square reader and it worked perfectly for the first day I used it. Then on the second day it stopped responding to tap, the green light wouldn't come on at all despite being fully charged, updated, and connected. I never dropped it or otherwise damaged it physically. It seemed to still accept chip inserts but the point of this device is so I can accept contactless payment. So I tried to troubleshoot; I tried resetting my bluetooth, my device, the reader, and nothing worked. Eventually I disconnected the reader from my device to troubleshoot and the reader wouldn't connect at all after that.
So I returned the reader and ordered a replacement. It has the same issue, the green light won't come on for tap, fresh out of the box. I don't know if it's just a defective batch that Amazon has been sending out but I've been very unlucky with this product.
