ENGINEERING BREAKTHROUGHS
We continually ask ourselves one question: how can drummers feel more confident about their sticks? The answer is innovations like ActiveGrip, the heat-activated stick, and FireGrain. More than simply innovation and world-class consistency, ProMark is about exploration, experimentation, and pushing the boundaries of what a drumstick—and a drummer—can be. ProMark Classic is a celebration of ProMark's rebellious spirit—one that will both excite ProMark neophytes and reignite the youthful passion of our most loyal longtime players.

I've had all kinds of sticks, but hadn't bought some in awhile. I play with a very laidback grip, all the way to the back; studied Weckl's Evolution DVD as well Todd Sucherman's extensively regarding the use of rebound, plus many years of military rudimental technique. Studied in college, went to several clinics, the whole shebang... you get it.
Quite simply put, those are the best sticks I have ever tried for how my hands have developed after 20 years and how I play now - which is different for everyone of course. "LA special" is a GREAT name :
Those are made for a laid-back, LA backbeat type of technique. There is a LOT of rebound, more so than just about other stick I ever tried in my life, so if you use Moeller technique at all (picking up with the wrist up motion between every hit), those are NOT for you.
However, if you grip way back on 'em sticks and hit hard and solidly whip your snare every 2's and 4's, they are for you.
Those are 5B's, which should fit most drummers. In my experience, diameter is overrated. Anyone with human-sized fingers can play from 7A to a little above that. Balance point - which on those sticks, is lower than most - is most important for where you grip (just below it is ideal, but not more than twice your grip fingers width I'd reckon). This is perfect for me.
They are light medium-ish in weight; I haven't weighed them. I guess it's on the specs.
I hit drums with those things. I don't care that the finish isn't even. The logo is looking really good.
Most importantly tho, they *sound* really good. Real hardwood, harder than most. Give me an almost nylon tip sound in my cymbal - I finally get THE ride sound I always coveted. Very very crispm, brighten up a dark cymbal, helps cutting through a rock band if you have jazz cymbals because you're a snob like me.
On top of ALL that, they cost like one third of any other pair or something.
No more worrying about running out of sticks.
The only thing I don't like is the absence of Promark logo. Those are EXCELLENT sticks.
They should be proud.
you can't expect to be durable but if you are playing at home.. of course they do the job
I've been using them since 2020 ... so far so good.
I wish the price would have stay de same over the last year. now it's 7 $ more for the pack of 3
it really starts to make it less appelling for me.
these are probably more popular lately.
I am not saying you should hit hard when you are mellow and you want to cover Norah Jones (i do use brushes as well, albeit very rare), but otherwise, on most songs, the snare drum will not have the same impact as opposed to when you hit it hard. You are the rhythm king and you should always let you drums know who's boss!
Why do I mention all of this? And how does this relate to reviewing these sticks? Well, I say this because if I complain that the sticks break quick, that wouldn't be fair to the seller on my part. After all, I make sure that every hit on the snare is a rimshot. Once you get addicted to the pop that rimshots have, there's no going back to the ludicrous advice of your sheep-ish drum teacher that you should hold your stick at an angle with the snare. Don't! Lay it flat with the snare and rip it. So of course the sticks will break.
My poor rating isn't for the understandable low durability, but rather for the quality to price ratio strictly! These are very comfortable sticks and they sound really good, especially when compared to the awful heavy sticks like maple. But like in every other industry, lifespan of item should reflect in the price. This goes for everything, car tires, batteries, etc...,
Of course these sticks sound and feel great. Of course they are designed that you go through them quick. Of course they are designed with performance over durability in mind. And I honestly like it that way. But the price should reflect the disposable nature of these otherwise very good performance sticks.
If the price were more appropriate, this item would have easily gotten a 4/5, or maybe even a 5/5 rating out of me.
The value is amazing and the quality is HIGHHH.
Very strong. I smash pretty hard.
Today a stick broke (left hand) on my snare rim…. Flew back and impaled me in the arm. Took two people to pull it out. Theres still a piece inside my arm… so in conclusion these sticks are dope and they are now A PART OF ME.
