I friggin love this player. I found setup to be easy and straightforward. I have it hooked up to my Sony X930E and watching 4k hdr movies is a thing of beauty. The only little nuisance I found is that you have to manually turn on/off dolby vision when you're going to watch a 4k movie that supports that format. It's not that big of a deal to be honest, but it would have been nice if the player automatically detected it. Maybe this will be fixed with a future update? All in all, I'm very happy with the player. I would also note, the movies are quick to start and the player is pretty quiet when you play your movies. The only time I hear the machine is when I put the disk in and it loads, which again is pretty friggin quick. I also have a xbox one x and this is a much better 4k player than the x. Now I'm not sure if this works with all tv's, but i love how it syncs up with my X930E. I've uploaded a video to show how quickly is starts and how quiet it is when you watchva movie. Btw, blade runner 2049 is a must buy. Visuals and sound...i have no words.Would definitely recommend.

I did a lot of research and even though Sony had a newer model it seemed like a few things with the newer model were changed that make it less useful than this version. This player is great you will need to get the proper 4k chord for it but it is a very nice out of the box plug it in and play. It has a few apps and the picture quality is absolutely amazing. I have family member with younger kids so it is nice that the front door has a lock on it so children can not play with it. This is a small feature but it is a smart idea. The wireless connection to the Internet in the house is a great feature. Making the connections was so simple it almost felt to easy. If you are looking for a good Blu Ray Player for a great price this is highly recommended.

On the + Side: Picture quality is amazing. It is a pretty straight forward player, you plug it and it works just like it should. The 4k quality is really superior to the Blu_Ray player one, there is no doubt about it. The disc doesn,t skip, everything is just right. I

On the - side: This is a good player but honestly in 2019 you wish they would include the HDMI wires that are recommended for it. I know that when they first released the Blu-Ray players in 2006, the HDMI wires were new and more expensive but now, it should just be included. I had to buy two sets to get the right one. The ones I had didn't seem to be good enough for the action scenes. (There was a weird pixelation appearing for a split second during certain action scenes in certain areas of the image). I did some research and fixed the problem with a new HDMI wire and now it works perfectly.

My initial setup with the player had stumble a bit of a downfall because the movie skips scene involuntarily. I realize the reason behind it because I plugged the power adapter and other multiple cables into the same outlet. You’ll need a power bar that will stabilize the flow of electric current. Get the monster brand one that can hook up to multiple gears and devices such as home theater, TV set and Blu-ray players. When I correct the mistake, the movie didn’t skip again. However my current entertainment set up doesn’t include the home theatre, I only set up my basic gears; the tv and the Blu-ray player.

PS my thoughts on Dolby Vision: this is perhaps the sole reason to get this model over the ubp800x model, plus it’s a hundred bucks cheaper. I get the reason why people would get the 800 version due to the built quality which is superior than the 700 and for those who don’t care about Dolby vision. Well I cannot make any critique on Dolby vision because currently I don’t have any content that supports it. But you still can play films with Dolby vision even though it doesn’t support it. Dolby vision kinda warms up (scenes look brownish and orange tan) or darken the color palette of the movie which doesn’t suit my taste in watching a film. I like vibrant and vivid colors that bring scenes to life. Finally this update doesn’t toggle on or off Dolby vision automatically, you will have to toggle it on when the contents does support Dolby vision. That was a bummer...in my opinion. Finally when Dolby vision is on, you cannot make any adjustments to picture quality! Hope the next update will fix this issue.

Es un excelente producto, hasta el momento no se calienta, no hace ningun ruido incomodo, aun no lo he calado con peliculas 4k pero con bluray funciona maravillosamente, igualmente tengo unos DVD viejos y la imagen no la distorciona tanto como cualquier otro blu-ray lo haría, como menciona el comentario de abajo no trae la app de amazon video, y no se pueden añadir mas apps (cosa si tiene una pantalla sin ser smart sería puntos menos). Update: So I had the servicer come and - without really understanding all the technical aspects - it seems there was some issue with my router (Netgear Nighthawk ac1900) and the player. Since the technician did his work the player and all the streaming apps have been working perfectly for the past three weeks so I've changed my initial review to reflect that the problem I was having seems to have been fixed.

I have been a dedicated Sony buyer for years with most all my electronics. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed and regretted a purchase. When this player works it is really great. The picture is excellent, streaming quality is fine, and you get HDR/Dolby Vision support. Here's the problem: It seems that this player has a rather common problem of giving you a "not connected to the network" error message even though when you check your network settings the player is indeed connected to your wifi network. This started happening to me after I owned the player for about a month. I then did some searching online and found threads about this very problem on the Sony support site dating back several years. Either Sony can't or hasn't solved this problem; it effectively renders this model as a standalone disc player because the glitch leaves you unable to (1) access any of your streaming apps like Vudu and Netflix or (2) check for or download software updates. There are short-term fixes that are hit or miss. Customer support will advise you to disconnect the power from the source for 1 minute and reset all your factory settings. But when they work I've found they last anywhere from a few hours to a week before the problem starts up again. I've also read online that the issue might stem from the player providing the wrong IP address if you use automated network setup. But I've mostly tried everything I can think of and nothing has corrected the problem. Sony customer support at this point has pretty much told me there is nothing else they can do and that I should contact an authorized servicer. So this is my warning: The player is great but there is an absolute risk that you are going to deal with the exact same network connection issue. So, maybe wait for a good sale and then hope for the best.
