Really glad we have this
My little old chihuahua was unable to use pet stairs because of a balance problem. We looked at other ramps, but given that she was having a hard time with steeper inclines on the stairs we didn't want to get a steep ramp. We looked at reviews and this one seemed like the best option for a few reasons. One being that the incline wasn't as steep as some of the smaller ramps. The other being that most were very happy with their purchase. As far as the size I knew it would be too big for my room -- and it really is. If you look at the photo you can see that it's really substantial. I don't mind the extra aggravation and crowding though, because now my dog can get on and off the bed independently again, and that's worth a lot to us. The materials are pretty good. The rug isn't too slippery. Sometimes my dog has a traction problem, but it's minor and has never resulted in an accident that I am aware of. Also, it's not the carpet's fault. It is not slippery at all. I think it may be in part how light my dog is at only 7 lbs.Putting it together wasn't too bad, but it had a few quirks here and there. All in all we put it together pretty quickly.Side note: my cats like to lie on it.I would definitely recommend this to someone who has the space and even if you don't, if you're willing to sacrifice some space for your pet.

Works perfect for both our Scotties who are 25 and 35 lbs. They have no problem with traction on the carpet as some people mentioned. It assembled fairly easily and is a beautiful and sturdy piece of furniture. One of our little guys had surgery to remove a liver tumor and he was happy enough in his crate the first 2 or 3 nights, but as he started feeling better and regaining his energy, he wanted to sleep in the bed with us again. Problem is, he's used to getting up and down by himself in the middle of the night if he gets too hot, so I couldn't risk him jumping off and tearing his staples. It was breaking my heart to lock him in his crate at that point, so I jumped online the fourth night and ordered this ramp. With Prime it arrived two days later, and it was exactly what we needed! He took to it like a duck in water and was able to get up and down without a hitch. We've had it over two months now, it works great and we'll continue using it since our other boy has joint problems and was starting to find it more difficult to get on the bed.

We have tried all kinds of steps and stairs to allow our Chihuahua to go up and down to our king size bed. Everything we tried did not work because the steep angle of the steps was frightening for him to go down. I finally constructed from empty plastic containers covered with carpet something that allowed me to extend the length and therefore having a decent angle without being too steep for him to climb up and down. However, assembling over 6 boxes every night and taking them down every morning was a chore on top of the fact that he used to wake us up with the noise every time he went up or down. When I found this ramp in Amazon, saw the specifications (70 inches in length) with carpet and made out of sturdy wood, I knew we had found the ideal solution to our problem. This ramp is made very sturdy, high quality, well finished worth every penny. It takes some patience to put it together, since the bolts have to align perfectly to tighten them in place. The only improvement that would be ideal is if the legs would de collapsible or easily removable so as to allow us to put away the ramp easily in a closet. Because of this, the ramp has to stay permanently in place since it is quite cumbersome to move it with the legs attached. So I added wheels! Other than this, it is a fantastic solution for people that have pets that share your bed with you and are too small to jump onto the bed. I will recommend it highly, if you have the room to leave it beside the bed.

- Easy to assemble (was expecting this to be difficult based on other reviews, but it was as easy as Ikea furniture)
- Wood looks great
- Carpet gives great traction
- Feel confident that it can support my dog's weight (50 lbs)
- No smell. One commenter wrote that the ramp had a bad smell; there's a very light varnish smell that you would get with any wood product and eventually faded
- All the pre-drilled holes lined up. I saw some reviewers had an issue with this, but mine was fine.
- I placed a rug under the ramp instead of having it just on hardwood because it can slide around

Overall, I love this ramp! Incredibly well made and looks like a nice piece of furniture.

Straight forward to assemble, though it did require some head scratching to get it right. As others have mentioned, the carpet is slippery. Too slippery, in fact, for our dog, so the ramp is useless right now until I get wooden rungs added. Our dog slipped on it the first time she attempted to go up, and won't use it again. It is quite sturdy, though it slips a bit if you dog approaches it with any speed, so you might need something heavy-ish behind the rear legs to anchor it.

Well made and fits in nicely with our bedroom furniture. It does tend t9 slide on the hardwood floors and we will have to find a non-skid mat. Our older dog also has to learn how to grip the covering on the ramp. T8me will tell.

I was worried because some other reviews had said the carpet was slippery, and that the holes weren't machined properly so it was difficult to assemble, but I didn't find either of those things to be a problem! Put mine together in about 20 mins, and my doxie had no problem with the carpet :) We have a king size bed on a frame, so the bed is quite high, but this comes up level with the top of the mattress and Dash has no problem getting on and off. Worth the money!

The build quality of the ramp is fine. It is fundamentally well designed. The issues, as others have noted, derive from the material selected for the surface of the ramp and it's tendency for the entire unit to easily slide all over the place. Unfortunately, these are fatal flaws as neither one of my dogs is willing to trust it in spite of much time devoted to coaxing them with treats.

They need to replace the slippery short pile and they need to add rubber grips to the floor touch points. How this managed to get through product testing is a mystery. I am debating whether to correct the issues myself or to just return it.

I was originally concerned about buying this ramp as there were a lot of comments about issues putting it together. I had no issues with mine. So easy to put together and all tools provided. The ramp is very solid, doesn't move, and my guy (a 45 lb mini labradoodle) has no issue gripping the carpet. With a little training he used it without coaxing in a day. My only complaint is that the colour of the carpet pieces do not match. Because you put it together upside down, I didn't notice until it was put together. The podium carpet and the entrance part of the ramp carpet are close in colour but the carpet in the middle is different. Check that out before putting together so you can put it together with most similar pieces together. Just a small criticism and doesn't really bother me.

First of all, this ramp is excellent quality!

The problem is the product/condition that Amazon sent this ramp to me. The ramp was sent from Amazon’s warehouse and arrived in a large, unmarked, flimsy cardboard box that was beat to hell (and way bigger than it needed to be, and the pieces were thrown together in there with no protection whatsoever. So of course, it was damaged and broken. There were no assembly instructions in the box and the screws were thrown in a knock off ziplock bag with no tools.
I bought this ramp NEW mind you. Paid full price for it, and yet it was pretty obvious they had sent me a damaged return that had most definitely been used before being ripped apart and sent back.

I am still giving this item 5 stars because I do believe this is a fault on Amazon’s part, seeing as the order is fulfilled through an Amazon warehouse and not through the actual company, who was wonderful.

I logged in to speak to customer service after receiving the damaged ramp, but Amazon only had an option to talk directly to the seller’s company, so I was sent to the sellers website instead. (Turned out to be a blessing! Amazon customer service has gone downhill)
I chatted with a customer service agent at PetSafe, who was very friendly, and he sent me out a replacement right away. I got a shipping email from fedex the next day and my replacement was delivered in a few days (order placed Friday, got it Monday! It was Easter weekend, so surprisingly fast)
The replacement confirmed to me that Amazon had in fact sent me a returned item instead of a new one because the new one arrived in a branded box, all the pieces were shrink wrapped and protected, there were instructions, and a sealed bag with screws, washers, and little tools were included.

Once I got the replacement, it was easy to put together! All the pieces were included and the ramp in very sturdy. It looks very nice, so it doesn’t feel out of place in my home.
I have 2 small dogs (15 pounds and 12 pounds) and they both took to the ramp pretty quickly and seem to like it. They don’t slip at all going up or down and can get on and off the bed with no trouble now.
In the end I’m incredibly happy with my purchase and would recommend this bed ramp to anyone with pets!
If I’m in the the market for another ramp or something similar I will definitely purchase from PetSafe again (though I will be going through them directly instead of taking the gamble with Amazon)

TL;DR : The ramp is excellent, but maybe buy it from the actual company (PetSafe) instead of Amazon. Then you’ll be sure you are getting what you paid for.

Photo 1: Some of the damaged pieces I received from Amazon and the weird baggie of screws I got.

Photo 2: This is the box my replacement came in (from the company) so if you do order from Amazon make sure it comes in the actual product box so you know it’s new.

Photo 3: The packaging, little tools, and pamphlets that came with my replacement from the company and were NOT included in the beat up package I got from Amazon.

I don't usually write reviews, but after buying and assembling this ramp, I just had to chime in. First, it is a beautiful piece of furniture. Very sturdy, solid wood with cherry finish and good quality, low pile, light tan carpet. Second, I had no issues assembling the ramp that weren't of my own making. Third, I got this done in one hour, by myself including the time it took to open the box and take all the pieces out and fix the couple of errors I made. Fourth, maybe because this was for my cat and not a dog, she had absolutely no problem climbing it. There was about 20 minutes where she was confused why her stairs were missing and why this big thing was there in its place, but I did what others recommended and put treats along the ramp, and it took minutes for her to get the idea. It's now been one day and she has gone up and down it at least a dozen times with no issue and NO SLIPPING OR SLIDING. Now, to address the assembly complaints. The pre drilled holes are not just holes. They have metal threads in them already. So there is no forgiveness. When I started to put it together, I was having trouble getting the legs attached to the top piece (which is the first step). But I was patient and finageled the holes and screws to match. Then I went to attach the legs to the middle piece (which is the second step) and none of the holes matched. I was thinking "oh no, all those reviews were right and the holes don't match!" But I took a breath and looked real closely at the picture in the directions, and I realized that I had the legs going the wrong way. So I disassembled it and switched the legs and the holes all matched as they were supposed to. To be clear, because the threads are already in the wood, there is no margin for error. What is crucial to do is not tighten the screws until you have them all in their respective holes. I needed just that tiny bit of wiggle room in order to get all the screws aligned with their holes. That was especially true of the braces on the back of the ramp. Once all the screws were in the holes for a particular step, then I went back and tightened them. And once the whole ramp was completed, I went back and tightened the screws one last time. I am thrilled with this ramp! I am now thinking of buying another for the living room because my cat can't get up and down her favorite cat perch anymore and the ramp would solve that problem and look good too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, Good Quality, Not THAT Much Work to Assemble
Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2019
Colour Name: CherryStyle: RampVerified Purchase
We'd tried all the plastic steps, to no avail. Especially when placing them on carpet, they don't feel steady and the dogs didn't trust them--rightfully so. So I searched for "high" and "pet ramp" and was glad to find this. I was very skeptical, and yes, it is steady whether placed on carpet or hard floors. So, our 11 year old beagles get up in the middle of the night like lots of us older folks do. They have no problem getting off the bed and running outside, but they can't get back up because they are older and the bed is higher than most. So this product was a huge help. I have one beagle that is 29 pounds, and one that is 39 pounds; very different in size (female and male). First, they don't find the carpeted surface to be slippery; they don't run up the ramp so there is no reason to slip. They walk normally, and have no trouble with it (I read slippery carpet is a problem for some; just not with us). So before spending time and mondy on modifications, see how it meets your needs. The "landing" at the top of the ramp may be helpful for very disabled dogs or very small dogs, so it's good to have, and is the perfect height for our high bed. However, my 11 year old dogs don't need/use it, at least not yet. The smaller dog goes 3/4 of the way up and is comfortable with a very short hop to the bed off the ramp (and it doesn't wobble--they trust it). The larger dog goes 2/3 of the way up, and hops up as well. As they get older, I expect they take more advantage of the full length, and maybe the landing; but not now. We have it at the foot of a king size bed, and the slope is perfect, with a length nicely long enough to allow a gradual slope that doesn't intimidate our dogs. Once I place them at the base and tell them to get on the bed, they get it, are not afraid of it, and walk right up--again, very sturdy. It's only been two nights but I fully know in the next two days will be natural and I won't need point out the obvious. Old dogs do learn new tricks!. Caution: My dogs, getting down, try to jump over it for now, or they stand and stare. So showing them how to step off of it (put their front two paws on the ramp and they take it from there) is as important as them learning to to get onto the bed. Still, this once again will be self evident as the dogs used to it and as they get older. Assembly: The box was very well packed, and all the tools you need (hex wrench and small end wrench) are included--so you don't need a thing. I didn't note any particle board parts--real wood with proper bolts/sleeves so you won't have to worry about this getting rickety over time. Tip: tape the tools to the bottom of it so if you have to tighten something or disassemble, they'll always be there. Not everyone has a hex wrench at hand. The hardest part was unwrapping plastic wrap off all of the pieces. This product is highly recommended. Yup, cost a bit, but seems worth it so far!
