Product description

A good astronomer wants to use his telescope at night AND day. For this you need a high quality solar filter. Sunspots, eclipses and transiting satellites, all can be seen clearly and safely when using a black polymer filter. The sun will appear in a natural orange color through your telescope. Buying the sheet and making the filter on your own will also save you a lot of money.

Fit my Zhumell Z130 with a 3d printed solar filter holder. I cut the filter to size and clamped it down with my holder. Works fantastic. I highly suggest getting a solar filter holder so you don't have to jerry rig some elaborate thing and risk damaging the expensive and one peice filter.

I used this to make a solar filter for my SLR digital camera. All I needed was this sheet, and a flexible coupling device used in plumbing - just take your camera to the hardware store to find one that fits your camera.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ready for eclipse partial phase

Works so far, although it's tricky to check manual focus when there are so few sunspots. Good S/N from 1/500 sec @ f/6.3 & ISO 320 w/ Leica 400 mm micro-4/3 lens (800 mm full-frame equivalent). My lens takes a 72 mm filter so I use a 77 mm step-up + Amazon basics 77 mm UV filter sandwich to protect the shiny front of the solar film while avoiding double-glass scattered light. I should be able to whip it off easily for totality. You won't want more than 500 mm of m4/3 lens on a tripod because Earth's rotation "moves" the Sun a diameter every 2 mins = approx totality duration.

Almost as if this filter paper works too well could not even see the sun in the middle of the day time purchased this for the transit of Mercury and unfortunately this did not do the job whatsoever, surprisingly this manufacturer was suggested by several yet failed to work as described huge disappointment.
