We own a number of instruments and have decades of playing experience and I'm now teaching.I've tried and owned many tuners over the years including several snarks.Snark are very common because they are simple and accurate without being too expensive. Couple of cool features on them BUT I'm done with them!Snark miss the mark with design, the ball & socket connections to the stem are flimsy and break. The colour appears to be coming off leaving a weird sticky feel to the stem.So as an experiment I grabbed a couple of sub $5 tuners from an online retailer to see how they compare. Well, the temu ones despite being cheap felt more solidly built. They are basic but they tune as accurately and quickly as the snark.So if you need something cheap & cheerful that works, skip the snark and pick up a no name or even a joyo for less than $10.You'll be pleasantly surprised while saving money.

I bought this tuner to tune electric and acoustic guitars using vibration mode and mounted on their headstocks. My experience is that it works very well in vibration mode for tuning both acoustic and electric guitars ... including solid body and hollow body electrics ... when mounted on the headstock. I tried tuning some solid body electric guitars using the microphone mode. I found that the microphone mode didn't work as well on solid body electrics when mounted on their headstocks. But, I didn't try putting the device closer to the body of these guitars when using microphone mode. It is sturdily made and easy to use. I would recommend that you seriously consider this Snark product if you want a great tuner to tune your guitars using vibration mode with the device mounted on your headstock.

You still need to use your ears to finish the fine tuning because although the device will say that each 6 guitar strings are on the right frequency one or more strings may be a little bit out out tune. If you don't to that, some chord will sound odd. Before I used diapasons to tune my guitars, the result is better but not as easy to most people.

This is one of the recommended tuners for a scroll head stock for acoustic instruments, and have used it with a replacement 1:14 vs 1:1 friction peg system, and it is very accurate easy to read and can be kept on the instrument for quick adjustments. Has a nice darkened red sheen as well.
