I wanted to love this product. I am majorly interested in robotics but I wanted to start with something smaller and easier so when this product came by, I decided to try it out. I know you get what you pay for and I only paid 36 CAD for this so it wouldn’t be overly impressive, but if I could return this thing I would, I am that disappointed with it. I even feel bad leaving a 1 star because it’s not something I’ve ever done in my life. When it arrived, I will say the packaging itself is lovely. A nice sized box with no parts missing, no damage to box and the manual is larger in size making it easier to see the pictures. Not completely clear, but good enough to understand the process - I had no trouble with their visual directions.Downsides:Firstly, everything is plastic and comes on little boards, and you have to cut them all out with pliers and then file the cut edges flat. I am a bit of a perfectionist about these things so I took my time and initially found it relaxing, but then I got annoyed because it took me HOURS to do this before you can even start building. It took me picking at it for 2 days before the pieces were even ready. Then you go to build it, and these plastic pieces will haunt your dreams I swear. Sometimes they don’t fit properly. The head breaks apart constantly, the piece that acts as the neck constantly comes undone and it’s so frustrating. We decided to build the roly poly robot which was listed as challenging but we are adults so, we got to it. We built some pieces and when it came time to put the round wheel on, it didn’t fit. Nothing lined up despite following directions exactly. We got frustrated and decided to put it aside for a bit. My partner immediately lost interest in helping me with this once he saw the poor quality. It also has such a weak battery, I say it spins for about two seconds and then that’s it.Despite knowing it will never move, I decided today to build the puppy bot, at least I could put it on my bookshelf or something, even if it doesn’t work. I put all the pieces together, and built the bottom. So far so good. I put the body on to it. I added the two arms. I gently placed one leg on and the entire bottom broke apart. I had to put it away and I feel like throwing it in the garbage honestly! It is such poor quality, the pieces don’t fit properly, and it falls apart VERY easily. I will probably never give this a third attempt. My patience is gone!I am 30 years old and able bodied, and I give up on this. I can’t imagine a child having the patience to ever build this and file all the 150 pieces and then struggle to build this only for it to not work. Take your money elsewhere and spend a bit extra to get something better.

Bought this for my 8 year old grandson knowing that he would love STEM projects because that's right up his alley. He is very smart and loves building. He was so excited to start building a solar robot, but before he started assembling them, he separated all the pieces and put them in the Ziploc bags that were included. The parts come attached to plastic so you need to use a spruce cutter to detach the parts and then use a nail file to make them nice and smooth. He did that all by himself.

The solar robots are a great educational toy, but not without a lot of work and time put into it. It kept him busy for hours and hours and he enjoyed every minute of it.

He had no problems fallowing directions because the guide book was very well illustrated. Out of all 12 robots, my grandson started with the easier robots until he got the hang of it, and finished with the harder ones. He did need a little help from his dad and they both enjoyed spending quality time together.

These robots work with solar, full sun preferably, and for indoors you need a 100W light bulbs aimed at the solar panel.
No tools required for the assembly, they are all clip-ins.
He had hours of educational fun and had the pleasure of seeing his project come to life.
Great gift idea.

Merci encore!

Nice product, there was an issue with P1 part so there's a newer version of this product available on Amazon with the correction. Cutting the pieces out of the plastic frame took time, could have come pre-cut. Seller was courteous and replaced missing parts

Warning. Read and follow the directions! You have to prep all the pieces before you can build the robot and there are hundreds of small pieces to prep before you can even build the robot. Complex and needs adult help. There are hundreds of small pieces that are connected to hard plastic packaging sheets. You have to cut the pieces from the plastic sheets and then use a nail file (included) to sand down each piece. But then wait for it, you need to separate each piece into the appropriate bags that you also have to label first. So only cut and sand each group of pieces so you don’t get confused later as to which pieces are which. Hence why I suggest you follow the directions and don’t try to cut corners. I spent 3 hours preparing the pieces and had no energy left to bother assembling the robot. Still haven’t. Lol.

This is actually not bad at all! Didn't have high hopes but I'm impressed. Maybe help the younger kiddos assemble the gear box, but the rest is fun. The Lego has been shelved for now. Try to use mini nippers or maybe nail clippers to cleanly cut the pieces out of the castings.
GO SOLAR!!

The idea behind this product is fantastic, so many pieces and building options. Comes with everything you need to build your favorite robot.

The only downside is the quality, overall it is good as individual pieces but when it comes together the robot is a bit flimsy and not sturdy. Don't expect Lego Technic quality build but fair for the price I suppose.
