Silicon Power 1TB Superior Micro SD is a good mid-range card.
4 Stars
Silicon Power 1TB Superior Micro SD is a good mid-range card.
The Silicon Power 1TB Superior is a good card and saturates the SDR104 data transfer spec (the highest read/write that Steam Deck is capable of). However, the IOPS of this card (2,805 IOPS Read/1,851 IOPS Write) is not fast enough to meet the V2 classification, but neither do the top of the line Samsung PRO Ultimate cards so that's kind of a moot point. (The Micro SD V2 classification is a minimum 4,000 IOPS Read and 2,000 IOPS Write)In the two uploaded images here I'm comparing the performance of the Silicon Power 1TB Superior Micro SD with the Patriot EP Series 512GB Micro SD.The highest random read I've seen so far was on the Patriot EP Series 512GB (Also bought on Amazon.ca, sold by the "Official Patriot Memory Store").Do be warned I've tried the Patriot EP 1TB card and it was terrible, only use the 512GB Patriot EP Micro SD card for gaming.I've also tested a few Samsung PRO Ultimate 512GB cards and they don't even saturate SDR104 data transfer speeds on either my PC or Steam Deck, the new Samsung cards are made to be compatible with DDR200 data transfer devices but for whatever reason SDR104 devices don't like the new cards.(The DDR200 data transfer spec was created in 2022 and almost nothing uses it currently.)My favourite card for a gaming system is the Patriot EP 512GB Micro SD and the Silicon Power 1TB Superior comes in a very close second place.

I took this card for my doorbell, you see. The idea was to have solid storage for the videos that my doorbell captures.
Personal experience

Experience-wise, things are going well. No bugs or hassles. I liked that it worked straight outta the box, no fiddling to do. The quality is there. No crashes, it records clean. It runs at 100 MB/s, so it should keep up even with hectic moments.

The pros: stability, speed, inexpensive.
Cons: maybe the packaging, not super solid, but good, as long as the card itself does the job.

For use, no stress. Just remember to format first if necessary. And keep an eye on disk space if you store lots of videos.

If you want to pick up a solid card without spending too much money, this one is worth it. And don't forget to check your doorbell's video quality settings to optimize.

In the two uploaded images here I'm comparing the performance of the Silicon Power 1TB Superior Micro SD with the Patriot EP Series 512GB Micro SD.
The highest random read I've seen so far was on the Patriot EP Series 512GB (Also bought on Amazon.ca, sold by the "Official Patriot Memory Store").
Do be warned I've tried the Patriot EP 1TB card and it was terrible, only use the 512GB Patriot EP Micro SD card for gaming.

I've also tested a few Samsung PRO Ultimate 512GB cards and they don't even saturate SDR104 data transfer speeds on either my PC or Steam Deck, the new Samsung cards are made to be compatible with DDR200 data transfer devices but for whatever reason SDR104 devices don't like the new cards.
(The DDR200 data transfer spec was created in 2022 and almost nothing uses it currently.)

My favourite card for a gaming system is the Patriot EP 512GB Micro SD and the Silicon Power 1TB Superior comes in a very close second place.

I was specifically looking for a 1TB A2 U3 (beep boop) for my steam deck and I'm quite happy with this one. Also happy about the pricing - VERY happy. Silicon Power usually does much cheaper prices and I'm always concerned with what quality I'm actually getting, but so far what I got is great. I'm not expecting it to suddenly fail and break down, but if it does at some point at least there's a 5 year warranty. Considering usage I'm not that worried as all I have on it would be game installations and not anything very important.

I haven't run any benchmarks on it because I feel like it would be pretty pointless for my case, but speed wise it has given me no problems at all. You can usually tell with SD cards if they're abominably slow or garbage. How could this card be any better? If there was a 1.5 TB version!

Over the past several years I've become a fan of SP products. They tend to offer really good performance for the price. Reliability has never been a problem with over 10 different SP products I've purchased over the years. This card really surprised me - in a GOOD way. Using a cheap Kingston UHS-II card reader plugged into my USB3 port on my laptop I verified 150MB/sec write and 160MB/sec read speeds. Although the card does not have the additional UHS-II pins it shows that the performance limits are sometimes due to hardware, like the card reader, or the USB port. I've attached the ATTO graph showing the write/read performance. The card is only a couple of dollars more than the A1 card but the IOPS are much better. I've included the ASSD IOPS from a recently purchased SP 512GB micro SDXC U3 A1 card so you can see that the A2 does offer significantly more IOPS at a very very slight increase in cost.
Actual capacity is 991.9GB decimal or 923GB binary. Close enough.
I do wish storage manufacturers would advertise the binary capacity of their drives instead of the decimal value. Most negative reviews of drives complain about the capacity being less than advertised and that is why. It is actually as stated almost all the time except people aren't aware of how it is arrived at. It IS a bigger number and that's why they do it.
I am super impressed with this card and based on my history with SP products, look forward to a long life with this card. If things change, I will update this review. The 5 Yr. warranty is just frosting on the cake. I don't know how SP's service is as I've never needed to use so we'll see. In the meanwhile I highly recommend this card. It is fabulous value compared to the competition and the performance is stellar!!!
***Update***
Although this card is capable of much higher read and write rates than specified, the card will overheat and freeze if you write to it using a UHS-II card reader. This enables much higher write speeds of about 150MB/sec. After re-formatting it and using a conventional USB3 card reader it resumed working fine but at about 30MB/sec (still faster than spec......). At this speed the card just got comfortably warm - not hot.
