Some have commented that it's a little heavy, but I put that down to the battery. Took me a few times to get used to it but it handles really well - especially the location of the 'turbo' right in the handle.
I thought I would be using Turbo all the time, but honestly, the vac does a great job in regular mode, although it is nice to have the extra power 'on demand' when I need it.
I'm most surprised at how well it works on rugs. I've owned this style of vacuum before (different brand) - so my expectations were low - but this Shark blows the previous one away.
Not only is it great for the house, I love it for my vehicle too. The power head works without the extension making it a very handy vacuum for the back seat where the dog travels—carpets too.
I've only owned it for a couple of weeks, and have used it a dozen or more times, so I can't comment on how long it will last - but I already hope it lasts a long time because I love this tool!
The pieces snap easily together AND come apart easily. The head doesn't swivel all over hell's half acre, and I was a bit concerned about the weight, but with the vacuum doing most of the moving, it was a rather enjoyable experience. And it LITERALLY untangled my long hair from the beater bar, and there it was, in the easy to empty refuse cup. I'm not quite sure what the regular bare floor setting is all about, but the motor slows down, so I just kept it on the carpet setting, and it did brilliantly.
It's also quite quiet, and I didn't even consider that when I bought it. I wanted a cordless vacuum that can run for at least 20 minutes on high suction, that didn't fall down every time I propped it against something, didn't leave a mess for me to untangle on the beater bar, and didn't frustrate me to death trying to put it together and take it apart. I made the investment because I have two pain disorders that are disabling, and I wanted vacuuming to be an easy, no thought chore that didn't force me to lie down for 45 minutes afterwards or pop pain killers.
I've used a Dyson. I can't afford a Dyson. But in real life, I honestly don't need my vacuum to have THE BEST EVER SUCTION ON THE PLANET. What for? This picks up the dirt, the cat fur, and my own hair from carpet and bare floor alike, it has great maneuverability, and I have no idea how long it takes to recharge because I don't vacuum every day, so I don't care.
The bonus? It was refurbished so I got it at a shockingly great price (an itsy bitsy tiny nick on the top of the beater bar casing that I had to go looking for to find). I recommend it if all they say is that it has a cosmetic defect.
If you don't have the disposable income needed to afford a Dyson, I'd recommend this vacuum. I really was prepared to be disappointed again (so many vacuums tried, so many failed), but Shark has pleasantly surprised me (which is the sedate way of saying I'm doing a crazy happy dance in my head).

It is super light weight and has a good battery life. Love it! Guess I am getting old, since I never thought I'd be this excited about a vacuum cleaner!
But in terms of performance, for $250 (on sale!) I was expected way better suction and design. The suction is about as much as my black and decker handheld vacuum, okay, fine, it's a cordless stick vacuum so what can you really expect? The battery (40min version) fully charged only lasts about 5mins on the carpet setting.
But my BIGGEST complaint is the vacuum head attachment - it really just moves dirt around and every backwards motion spits almost ALL of the contents out the back, including on carpets. Yes, this happens with most vacuums to some extent, but this one is next level. It took me 10mins to clean up cat litter because it was just me going over the area over and over and over at different angles because it kept spitting 95% of it back out. Gave up and just used the handheld part. Cleaning my entire apartment, I had to stop multiple times to give up and disassemble the unit and use the handheld vac on the mess AND THE INSIDE OF THE VACUUM ATTACHMENT because pet hair gets stuck and isn't sucked up through the long tube into the chamber and is just tracked elsewhere. The rolling head section literally just pushes stuff around and makes vacuuming take 10x as long. Even the cheap-o vacuums I've been using don't do that, although I suspect they are not nearly as good at picking up the finer particles as this one (it does fill up with more dust per surface area than the cheap ones so I know it's working, it just takes ten times longer).
Anyways, I'm keeping it because I'm sick of buying new vacuums every year, but if this one breaks on the same timeline as the other ones I will be absolutely livid.
Edit: caved and bought the Miele C1, which is a canister with incomparable suction. I use this shark for small area rugs that the Miele sucks up and quick jobs that require convenience, but otherwise the Miele for everything else (including carpets even though it's made for bare floors). Can't really beat a canister in suction and efficacy, so this Shark is fine for its role but I think you could get a cheaper cordless stick vacuum with the same performance.
I received the vacuum today, and I will update review as I go if I need to. First impression was the box was simple. Looked very generic, and I wished it had an actual name instead of just model number. I also thought it would only have powerfins and no bristles since that’s how it’s pictured and advertised. IT HAS BRISTLES. They feel soft, and I’m watching how they do on my LVP flooring but that’s very misleading because I thought it was going to be just a soft silicone fin. I’m scared it’s going to scratch my flooring. It’s overall very light, and nice sleek look to it. I used it as soon as I got it for about 10 minutes on the LVP flooring I have. It sucked up pet hair and dirt that I couldn’t even see. Worked great. I’m very satisfied with the suction so far. I did plug it in to charge after it died (before the initial charge), and it has now been 2 hours and it still isn’t fully charged. I do wish it had quicker charging. So I decided to glance through the manual to make sure I’m doing everything right. In the manual, it states with hand vac it works for up to 40 minutes, but only 25 mins on bare floor, and only 20 mins during carpet mode. If you’re using the boost (it has a boost button which is nice) vac with handheld it only works for 10 minutes on a full battery. So I would say it would only last in boost mode for about 12 minutes on bare floors, and probably less on carpet since it’s half the time almost from the hand vac times. I do wished the battery life was longer, and it’s misleading when it says the vacuum lasts around 40 minutes on a full battery. I knew it wouldn’t always last 40 minutes with different modes and flooring, but I didn’t think using the actual vacuum in standard mode on hardwoods would cut that time in almost half, to 25 minutes. Disappointed in that. I do like the design, the boost button (hate how much time it cuts off the run time before the battery dies), and I think it does a good job overall with suction this far. I also love the LED lights. I think it’s a pretty good vacuum. Wished it would come with two batteries so you could charge one and have a backup. I have an almost 1500 square foot house with all LVP flooring & a dog that sheds. So I will definitely be testing this out over the next days to get accurate timing myself.
Breakdown is —
Pros:
1. The style/design is sleek
2. Easy empty container
3. Boost mode button
4. Powerfins (it does have bristles though. Pics are misleading)
5. Good suction this far
6. LED lights
7. Can change battery out (only comes with 1 though)
8. Pretty easy and convenient storage
Cons:
1. Battery life (states 40 mins but that’s for hand vac, only 25 mins for bare floor and 20 carpets)
2. Charging time — it’s been over 2 hours and it still isn’t fully charged.
3. Has bristles, does have powerfins — but pictures makes it look like it doesn’t have bristles and only has powerfins. It has both. This was one of the main reasonings I ordered this one was because I felt like it was safer on my flooring.
4. No “name” — just a model number. And the packaging looks generic. Not like an almost $300 vacuum. Came in a cardboard box, with the vacuum inside a plain white box.
Let me start by saying I have a husky who sheds A LOT. I have to sweep my house twice a day just to keep up with her hair shedding, if not it’s in piles around the edges of the house. Every vacuum that claims to be “tangle free” or “made for pets” are crap and hair gets tangled with every use. I was very skeptical this vacuum was actually tangle free (bc it does have bristles! Not just fins like the photos show) but to my surprise- NOT ONE HAIR has gotten tangled in the roller after weeks of use!! (See pictures)
Got this vacuum for like 40% off during Black Friday deals. I think it was absolutely worth what I paid- but almost $300 full price is a bit much in my opinion bc it’s not that strong. Ive had much stronger for $150. But for what I paid, I’m very happy with the quality of the product, how lightweight it is, ease of use, battery life, & most importantly that it’s truly tangle free w/ pet hair. That alone makes it worth it for me.
** Things to know:
1. Truly is TANGLE FREE for pet hair (yay!!) only part that gets hairs stuck are the tiny wheels on the corners (see pic) but it doesn’t affect the functionality of the vacuum whatsoever.
2. Its very lightweight- I am 9 months pregnant & have problems with my blood pressure going up w/ little activity & have to be careful. I can easily pick this up & vacuum my couch with it or my rugs w/ no problem.
3. It’s LOUD - low setting isn’t too bad, but high setting needed for carpet/rugs is obnoxious & sounds like a leaf blower. For what I paid, doesn’t bother me.
4. It’s very top heavy & cannot stand on its own - but that should be expected with any brand of vacuum that is this lightweight cordless style. It can lean against the couch or wall (see pic) just fine.
5. Too weak with attachments- I wanted to use this to vacuum my car but the low setting or even high are too weak with the attachments & do a very poor job getting crumbs, dirt & pet hair out of thin vehicle carpet. It got the majority of dirt, but the pet hair & crumbs in the crevices couldn’t be sucked up because the suction is so weak. But when it comes to vacuuming crumbs & hair off my couch, it’s so lightweight I just pick up the vacuum and use it on the couch as if it’s the floor and the rollers get everything up no problem. Won’t be using the attachments much though.
5. Actually does well with thick carpet/rugs - my sons nursery has a very thick shag rug (see pic) that’s almost 3” thick. The vacuum is not anywhere strong enough to pull itself forward on the carpet, but if lean it back a little and use just a little muscle it glides easily across the thick rug (Again I’m 9 mo preggo and I can do this no problem). The rollers get deep into the rug and get about every trace of dirt and hair.
6. Rechargeable battery is nice & imo gives plenty of run time- I get about 40 minutes of use in my mostly hardwood home, during which I have it on high for almost half the time vacuuming thick rugs and my couch.
