Having read several of the online reviews regarding this product, posted to amazon.ca / .com I had serious concerns. Like most value-based shoppers, I am not necessarily retailer loyal and prefer to shop local when I can.In fact, just to share, this item - SanDisk 512GB Ultra MicroSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter (matched to model #) was on sale for about $15 less at the local Best Buy; however, it was being sold through a re-seller on their web site. This product that I decided to purchase was being sold direct through amazon.ca (not an amazon marketplace seller). I deemed this vital because from what I read, the counterfeit / fake memory cards were more likely to occur through 3rd party sellers. As it turns out, that's what SanDisk also mentions. (In fact, exploring further, I noticed this to be an even greater concern with 3rd party sellers on eBay.)By the way, I happened to notice that on amazon, most of the reviews commenting on fakes appeared in the 2017 ~ 2018 time-frame. So, hopefully, it would appear, amazon is clamping down on this, carefully screening their suppliers and returns.SO, I took a deep breath & jumped in to proceed with my purchase thru amazon.Ahead of time, I even researched Softpedia's H2TestW v1.4 testing application (yes it is free & that is the current version as of the date of this review), recommended by several reviewers for testing memory card specification, capacity & authenticity; it is highly independently rated & one of the better ones, so I downloaded it to my desktop PC just to keep on hand (it appears to be 'tight' lean code for the task).The card arrived very soon after my purchase (Thanks amazon!) & I carefully examined the package before opening. See my photo's. All Intact & seamless.However, before I opened the product, I visited SanDisk's web site; there - I found specific info addressing my concerns. I discovered that by registering the product it does not necessarily validate it's authenticity, either. In order to do so, however, SanDisk does provide clear instructions on how to locate the serial # for their product, which you will need to register it. In their own words, regarding "Verifying if a SanDisk product is authentic", they state - "The best way to ensure you are purchasing an authentic SanDisk product is to buy from an authorized SanDisk reseller. .... If you are concern[ed] about the authenticity of your SanDisk product, you may contact SanDisk's tech support and select the appropriate support option for your product". Now, even though amazon did not currently appear on their authorized SanDisk reseller listing, I did feel confident; but not entirely. So I contacted tech support and gave them a couple of high definition pictures of the front and back of the memory card along with my inquiry. A technician at SanDisk Global Customer Support got back to me within 2 days and authenticated (n their own words) - "Based on the pictures submitted for review, we have determined that this is an authentic SanDisk retail brand product. We thank you for taking the time to review this and appreciate your assistance."Just the same, I have included pictures of the original packaging and the SanDisk card (front only; serial # is on the back!) that I purchased through Amazon.ca . I'm sharing all of the above in this review in the hopes that it will provide fellow Amazon customers with greater confidence in the process & product that is available through Amazon.ca. You can never be too careful; and no doubt counterfeiting skills are an arms race with the genuine product developers. Be careful. Continue to keep a close eye on the product that you receive. I'm very thankful to share that in my case, Amazon.ca passed the test with flying colours. Best of good luck!
