I have a Surface Pro 7 which means no place for an SD card. I use this reader to resolve that issue. It works just fine. I do find it really difficult to get the SD card out of the reader (it's really tight) but I don't know if that's a me issue, or a device issue. Either way, it hasn't stopped me from using it.

So I bought an D850 recently and a 1TB Extreme Pro 170MB/s card. I also bought a generic USB 3.0 SD card reader thinking that all USB card reader are the same but found that the speed was quite slow. Did the research on the internet to find that the only way to get 170MB/s was to use this SanDisk SD UHS-1 Card Reader of which I purchased and I just received it today and tested the copying a massive amount of 45.7MP 13MB files to find an impressive copy speed. I believe SanDisk did this on purpose just so you purchase their proprietary SD card reader, but that is fine as the SanDisk SD card reader is cute and I don't mind carrying around this card reader vs the other generic brand. As long as it does the job. Returning the generic brand card reader and keeping this one. It is very quick and I think it does read at 170MB/s as it is certainly faster than my NAS at 80MB/s write/read. If you have the SanDisk Extreme SD 170MB/s card you will need this SandDisk SD UHS-1 Card Reader. Highly recommended.

As others have said, the card is a tight fit. Although it did loosen up somewhat (still a bit tight) after the first use. I also find that it is difficult to get the card out after. Not a big issue for me. But others might feel different.
Pros:
With cards that match its performance level, I find the speed to be everything I expected and more. I transferred a approximately half Gbyte file in the count of three. I didn’t actually catch the speed reporting because it was too quick.

With USB 3 it is so fast, literally 10x faster. I have had bad luck with some off-brand sd cards so now I only buy SanDisk. If you value your images, don't go cheap on the chip or the reader. Going cheap, I once lost an entire vacation's pics and they were completely unrecoverable. I love this new card reader and look forward to many thousands of good pictures. Of course you should always download and backup frequently or you will someday lose your pictures.

The Sundisk SD Card reader is a decent product for what it is for the price.

It reads all my SD cards with no issues at all for as long as the partitions are there.

USB-A, which is a plus as of this moment for any computer that accepts it.

But the thing is a bit on the tight side when inserting SD cards in it to be read for any computer that don't got a built-in SD card reader. So careful when inserting and uninserting SD cards with this thing.

When engaged, the thing sticks out real wide. If your ports are to the left or right than top and bottom, ya will need to disengage the other device from the other port to use this device to do what ya got to do with the SD card.

Works great. Gets the job done for the price. But has its own trade offs when using it.

My PC does not have a SD card slot by default, this adapter allowed me to transfer photos from my camera.

Pros:

The build quality is good, although a little plasticky and it shows fingerprints very easily, but they wipe away.

It is very well built for the price, and it looks very sleek and has a compact design so it’s not too obtrusive.

Cons:

The only con is that it has no cord length so if it’s on a rear USB port it cannot be accessed easily. I can forgive this as I understand that it is intended for use with laptops that do not have an SD adapter, and I only plug it in when it is in use so there is no issue.
