As a Mac user, 3.2x2 is not supported, so getting 700/900mb/s was fine - but not the greatest solution if you want to use external SSDs to offload media and use it almost as an internal storage. Given that macbook internal storage is scarce and incredibly expensive, I chose this to give me the best of both worlds.
The Pro-Blade station solved it all for me. The convenience of having up to 4 mags (and up to 16TB) that are easily removable, and very importantly with NO cables involved, is absolutely amazing. The mags are as fast as my internal mac SSD with benchmarks showing around 1800mb/s write and 2700mb/s read via TB3.
Yes, the enclosure has a fan but it only turns on under heavier data transfers and is fine with me, as it's only temporary. The built quality of all components is top notch, and the enclosure definitely feels over-engineered.
It is for sure pricey, but so is buying a laptop/macbook with large internal storage. Sure $400+ CAD for the enclosure + $200+ for 2TB is not for everyone, but the mobility of the ecosystem (MINUS THE CABLES!!) is amazing.
VERDICT:
+ Amazing TB3 speeds (1700mb/s W, 2700mb/s R)
+ Connect 4 different SSDs simultaneously without 4 different USB C cables (big plus for me)
+ Use Mags as internal storage for media workflows without compromising on mobility
+ Neat design
- Pricey
- Since it is not for every use case, not super popular, I'm afraid there won't be mags with 8TB+ in the future due to low demand
- Fan noise noticeable under load
- 100w supplied wall plug is very bulky

The only downside is the fan noise, I mounted underneath the desk and is fine, only when I copy a lot of data (4-8 TB) at the same time on multiple drives the fan will make pretty loud noise, but that’s for a few minutes.
When video editing from it the fan is on low speed (you can still hear it but if mounted underneath the desk is way better).
Definitely great ecosystem and will probably get more!

The only thing I don’t like is that the cables don’t stay attached to the back of the drive, causing disconnects if you lightly bump the station or move it to remove the blades. I found a solution to keep the cables secure by buying c type adapters / extenders that fit better in the chassis.

The station gets noticeably warm to the touch and the fan will come on even when there's no activity. I suspect it draws significant power (unverified) even if none of the slots are occupied.
There appears not to be any change in LED color based on whether a blade in a slot is being used. More importantly, there's no obvious way to tell when a blade can be safely ejected. The LED is simply solid white most of the time for an inserted blad regardless of whether the it's mounted by the OS or not. It'd be great if the LED changed color to show mount status (i.e., whether it can be safely removed).
The LED will flash briefly for activity and that's a clue to the blade being mounted, but not as obvious as you'd want. My solution is to tape a label on the outward facing end of the blade which matches the filesystem name shown in Finder. That makes it easier to see which blades are in use and avoid yanking the wrong one out of the station by accident.

that said: wicked fast, genuinely a nice idea as a modern floppy disk/drive, but i never thought i might burn myself on a 3.5. four slots is quite a bit of room, but i’m barely comfortable keeping 3 sticks in at a time, and prefer 2 so temps stay relatively under control
long term prospects: i have to imagine these temps are killing the sticks, so i’m keeping everything extra backed-up (2 working copies on blades, one off-system archive) and almost have to imagine they’re counting on us replacing these like floppies, which cost a buck a piece, not $100.
maybe it’ll get a magical firmware rewrite, maybe there’ll be a redesign which solves the heat problem for future purchasers, but for now i’d say hold off
