I am photographing birds and nature since 2015 and have my many photos everywhere with many duplicates.. (5 SSD 1 TB external hard drive). So far, I have moved the content of 3 of the SSD hard drive and I love having my photos on the same hard drive. Because of the issue of lost data reported in the comment, I am being very cautious, I am moving and cleaning one year at a time. When I am done with a year, I make a backup copy on my old SSD drive. So far I have taken 2.2 TB of space and 2 SSD drive left to move. Before using, I verified if a firmware update was required and mine was already updated so was ready to be used. It is really fast and i dont find it get that hot. I will update the review if the hard drive fails.

The theoretical 2X in speed is something most ppl won't notice. I'm a video creator and just transferred 40gb of 60fps HD video files, the Extreme did it in 90 seconds and the Extreme Pro did it in 60 seconds

Even if you are for some reason transferring the entire 1TB storage of the SSD every time you use it, it wouldn't save you more than a few minutes per use

Just get the smaller, cheaper Extreme Portable SSD unless you're a graphic designer or something reading and writing this thing dozens of times a day and every second counts

So, after 3 years of battles with this little piece of rubbish (bought on March 2021), I can only warn you: DO NOT BUY THIS USELESS DANGEROUS SSD. The way it overheats is ABSOLUTELY NOT NORMAL. I know there are countless online reviews saying this is completely normal and even expected. IT IS NOT. The metal ring (the orange one) overheats to the level that it LITERALLY BURNS your hand. I read some reviews back then stating this was supposed to be like that as the SSD was trying to dissipate the heat. NO WAY. So, now I have an awful useless plastic brick because guess what... It finally happened: it burnt itself. So, just save yourself a major headache and buy a way better reliable SSD. The LaCie next to it is 2-3 years older than this little piece of garbage, it also has a huge piece of aluminum (the orange rim), and it works just as brand new. It has never overheated. NEVER. Just go for a LaCie: way better, and unexpectedly cheaper. I bought this 1TB SanDisk for $255 CAD. A 1TB LaCie is $150 CAD. Do you remember the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type-C? Same thing. Absolutely dangerous. Make your own conclusions.

The media could not be loaded.
 The Sandisk Extreme Pro 1TB drive is an amazing product by a quality manufacturer. I opted for the 1TB model for the simple reason that I am a college student with very little money. Otherwise I would have went with the 4TB model as that is the storage space I needed. The speed of transfer is blazing fast. I filled this drive completely full in less than 10 minutes of recieveing it, I am an on the go music producer and needed a reliable drive for my software and audio tools. Without a doubt the drive feels like a premium material and is very well constructed. Immediately after plugging in to any of my laptops the security window appears and allows me to unlock the drive without any issues at all. I really like the included cables it comes with, which both are quality connections USB-C to USB-C and the other one is USB-C to USB-A.
I highly recommend this drive to anyone who is looking for a backup drive that isn't going to fail on you like mechanical drives do, as this is SSD and has no moving parts.
As Sandisk is still owned by Western Digital I was a little hesitant at first glance because of a previous external 5TB drive id purchased which as you can imagine the amount of data that was lost when that drive failed on me. Let me put it into perspective, I lost 15+ years of music production assets id made for several sample packs which were to be sold on several storefronts and project files all worth around $400,000 give or take a few thousand bucks. All lost due to a random drive failure. Thats a different product offered by Western Digital and does not apply to this Sandisk Extreme Pro, however i simply had some reservations in terms of choosing this backup drive as to rebuild my life after that last one.

Overall, this Sandisk Extreme Pro 1TB is a quality product and so far is worth the price, I would suggest going with the larger sized models if you can afford it because 1TB isn't much.
