This review is mainly for people who love to play video games like I do.
I use this monitor with this rig so you can compare yours to mine and calculate what FPS you will be getting from this monitor.

Rig specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K (32 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 32GB RAM 6000 MHz
GPU: RTX 4090

For a game such as Diablo 4, with everything maxed out in settings, HDR on, and LowFx disabled, you will get around 100+ FPS on world maps with or without people and 100+ FPS inside a dungeon with or without other people in it. For towns, however, you will only be getting 60, sometimes dipping around 50, depending on which town and how many people are in it. if you have a rig close to or better than mine this is a good value for your money. performance-wise and quality-wise. OLED makes everything beautiful for movie watching and cutscenes on games. since the two are 30 FPS lock anyway.

highly recommended that you buy it if you want immersion on games assuming that your computer can keep up on the demands of new titles otherwise you can lower your settings a bit. the LG UltraWide 34'' QHD (3440 x 1440) OLED is a contender in this category as well, but it's more expensive with the same performance.

by the way avoid the resolution pitfall 4k even tho it offers way better quality if sacrifices performance a 2k game with 100+ FPS will look better and feel better than a 4k game with 30 - 40 FPS even for immersion.

Only had it for a couple of days so far, but it looks awesome. Don't have any issues with Text at the default display settings. Use it for Work and Home/Gaming. It does come with mini HDMI, but also regular HDMI and DP, but those are a little difficult to get connected due to their lateral location. It also comes with a built in USB-C Hub. Both the upstream and downstream connectors are USB-C. Gaming is beautiful on this monitor. Playing Diablo 4 doesn't use the whole screen, but enough of it that I can see the whole horizontal map, if not the full vertical dimension. Civ VI via Steam will use the whole screen and looks great as well. I thought I had an arm for it, but it turns out it was too weak for the weight of the monitor. Ended up going with a Vivo for $110 Canadian, and that is working great so far. The stand is nice too though and is very heavy duty. So far very happy with my purchase.

I'm really not sure why this monitor only has 3.6 stars. I have experienced none of the problems people have mentioned. This is by far the best looking monitor I have ever owned. People complaining about the connection choices should give their head a shake. It comes with the mini DP to regular DP. And if you have $1800 to spend on a monitor, you have $15 to spend on a cable. Stop complaining. The reason they decided to go with mini ports is because they are WAY more eloquent looking.

Another reviewer mentioned the monitor just "turns off" to run the pixel refresh feature. I can confirm this is false. The monitor has never just "turned off" while using it, there is however a warning that pixel refresh has not been run in a while and it will run the next time the monitor is turned on.

The picture is razor sharp and makes the graphics in games actually look better. Alan Wake 2 is shockingly detailed and breathtaking with this monitor. I have no regrets at all.

Bought this in March of 2024. It arrived and it was amazing. Then, in May is started blacking out. Every five minutes or so it will go completely black in the middle of the game.
Called Samsung. They told me it’s the HDMI cable. They won’t cover their own HDMI cable within warranty. So I went and bought a new one.
Same thing. Screen blacking out. Tried the monitor cable. Same issue.
Called again. They refused to take the screen for repair or assessment. I argued.
Here is the lies I was told on separate calls.
1. We don’t have a supervisor present. You won’t be able to talk to management.
2. We decided we will repair it. You have to take it to the authorized repair center. - I called repair center. They were very confused. Because Samsung never created a ticket.
3. We don’t create tickets before repairs. We wait for the repair to happen then create a ticket.
4. I personally will contact the repair center, and will email you when you can bring the monitor to them.

This is an expensive monitor. That is not going to receive any support from Samsung. If it works - great. If it doesn’t it’s an almost 2K piece of trash. I am severely disappointed in Samsung. As an Apple user this is my first experience with the brand. Safe to say it’s my last. Never going to be dealing with them again. Amazon, bless their heart have given me a return label. Sending this screen back.

I am not a fan of writing reviews and I had my fair share of bad experiences with Samsung products, but I felt like this product deserved the time. The image quality of this computer is .... FANTASTIC. Especially if you use HDMI but are stuck with 60 hz which is a complete shame because of how fantastic the image quality is in this mode. Now if you want to do some gaming you can bump that up to 175hs using the display port which I noticed darkens the image quite a bit, now the image quality isn't bad, but its HDMI counterpart is far superior. I keep both an HDMI cable and a display port connected depending on what I want to do movie HDMI cable games display. The only reason this got 4 stars the Samsung display cable that came with the monitor does not work.

i have all oled tv's in my house, was waiting for a spec'ed out oled pc monitor and bam here it is. i have the hardware to get the most out of it. pandora frontier's is breathtaking with graphics cranked up. my rig is at a desk in the kitchen with lots of windows...no glare what so ever. smokes my previous ips out of the water. no bleeding at all. aluminum stand is very sturdy and although silverish the bottom stand is flat so i can set my controller in front on top, no wasted space like my previous v shaped stand. if you have the rig to handle this why on pandera's earth would you need built in speakers? buy some decent speakers cheapskate. i do wish it was g sync certified thou. and the one's screaming "burn in" in 15 years of owning OLED'S i never had issue's with burn in. maybe don't crank the brightness all the way up. this monitor has a setting built in to alleviate it. this monitor is plenty bright even in my multi-window kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible picture quality

The quality of videos and games are amazing even better than the other 4k screens I own. The screen is very lightweight and thin in all of the right places. All the edges you see are thinner than a pencil. The slim profile of the screen itself is very appealing. I can't say anything bad about it but I can say there are some questionable things.

Why is the power cable white? every other cable (especially power cables) are black or gray. It stands out like a sore thumb and is very hard to hide.

The "monitor" sets itself up as a TV when you first set it up. I doubt most people buying this are going to hang it on the wall to use as a TV. You simply don't need a 240 hz TV.

The monitor stand is very large and pushes the monitor a good 6 inches forward. Unless you have a massive desk the stand is going to push this screen uncomfortably close to you and take up most of your desk space. Get a mount to go with it.

First of all this is coming from someone who isn’t super experienced with oled screens. This is my first oled screen besides an iPhone that I have owned.

Picture quality is absolutely spectacular coming from someone who is used to LCD/LED screens. The colors are really rich and sharp.

One slight drawback is the screen definitely deserves some tweaking in settings to truly bring out its potential. There are some helpful videos online of how to do so.

The UI is not exactly the most intuitive but is acceptable by my standards.

The physical construction of the monitor body is excellent quality. Stand feels substantial and does not feel like it is going to tip over at all. Really nice smooth metal edges.

Some reports say that the screen finish is too reflecting thus if you have any light source behind you, it drastically interferes with the viewing experience and I don’t find that to be the case at all. This may be due to angle but I have multiple RGB lights behind me and don’t even notice.

I can’t speak really the g8 OLED versus the other 34” oled screens out there but I feel like it was money well spent.

(The pixel shift that comes out of the box enabled is a nice touch for peace of mind to help combat burn in.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Monitor for Gaming or Multitasking
Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2023
Style: 2023 modelSize: 49 InchConfiguration: OLEDVerified Purchase
First off, this monitor is heavy. The stand which comes with it is very substantial and will support the monitor well. If, like me, you use an arm swivel to hold your monitor so it can be moved around, you will need a heavy-duty arm and mount. Fortunately, mine could handle the weight.

Secondly, the picture is impressive. Just hooking it to my PC and turning it on made it obvious that the OLED is 100% better than my older monitors. I used a three-monitor set before and the panoramic view of this 49" monster made them instantly obsolete. I can do the same work in multiple windows with only one monitor.

It does take some getting used to but the overall picture quality and 240hz refresh rate means a seamless work surface and an unbeatable gaming workhorse.

So my pros:

It was easily set up and provides a great visual experience.
Working in multiple windows and programs functions well and the seamless movement between them is a great asset.
Gaming is awesome on this monitor with no rips or lags in any of the games I put it through. (BG3, various flight sims, Cyberpunk, Skyrim, et. al.

My cons:
Updates are not intuitive. There is a bit of work involved in getting the hardware updated. I had to download to a thumb drive and the find the specific port to plug into.
The LED lighting on the back is meh. A series in a strip around the monitor would be more eye-catching.

All this being said, I find myself really enjoying this monitor. It is beautiful in the picture and quality, seems robustly well built and allows for easy multitasking through putting up to six windows across the face.

I have not tried the additional device option (splitting the screen in two) or used the built in sound as I have better base sound on the PC itself.

Overall, I would recommend this monitor for anyone who needs a wide screen for multitasking or gaming purposes. It also provides an excellent streaming picture for movies/television. It is a higher price point, but is well worth the price in my opinion.

5 stars!
