I was originally looking at the Rode microphone stand for 3x the price, but decided to give the Samson MD5 5" stand a shot first, given the price and general reviews. I am not disappointed!The weight of this stand is impressive and it holds my very heavy (2lbs) Rode PodMic with ease. I use this with an audio-technica AT2020, which isn't a super heavy mic but has some heft due to its metal construction. The AT2020 is completely stationary while screwed on and I don't have to worry about the mic leaning one way or the other. I have a really thick desk that doesn't work well with most boom arms so this is what I bought, so I would say this is a worthwhile purchase.
My only complaint is that I think it could be a bit taller, 3-5 cm, to be closer to my mouth. I wouldn't detract a star for that, though, as I could've read more about the height before purchasing and that is more user error than a product error.

Great, solid mic stand. It's heavy but if you're using a mic like mine, it's the perfect weight.

I use an AT 2020 and that is what i'll be basing this this review with.

If you're a gamer, I would recommend using a mic arm as this mic stand will be close to your keyboard and pick up keyboard / mouse sounds very easily and it'll be very loud. Because it's so solid, this will also pick up the vibrations if you bump your desk.

For everything else, this should be an amazing purchase.

This mic stand has been great for a casual computer user who needed a simple to use, stable mic stand. It doesn't provide any special vibration isolation like the fancier boom arm mic holders but it does a great job as a simple desktop mic stand. It is very stable compared to the tripod stand that came with my Audio Technica microphone. It has a simple metal design and I can't foresee any part of it wearing down. I believe that the stand will last for years unless I drop it somehow.

I have been working with audio and visual equipments for about forty years, I would say this is one of the best table top mic stand you can buy, and it is very affordable. If you are wondering what mic I mount on this, I use Shure SM 58 which is an industry standard.

I needed to run a discussion panel with four talents and needed four mic stands, this stand is the perfect height, perfect weight, and has a nice rubber base that prevents sliding around and provides some isolation of desktop sounds from the mic. Mi única reserva es que es un poco bajo y la altura no es ajustable, esto provoca que mi cable XLR quede ligeramente tenso, pero nada grave. After faffing around with gooseneck and tripod stands, I went for the simplest option and this 2-piece stand turned out to be the ideal solution. A heavy MV7 mic needs a stable base and this SAMD5 is really solid - no wobble at all - yet isn't so big it gets in the way. The neck screws in and is the perfect height for the mic at a slight tilt (about 30-45 degrees off vertical) to sit at chin level, directed at mouth. Didn't need any adapter bolts. Delighted with it. Should last years.
