Although many of the reviews on here now seem so negative, I just put the mattress in the crib and it will be sufficient. There is no smell, no tears, isn't noisy, fits snug in a standard size crib, is very light, and is plenty firm enough for baby safety. I do not see any issues with this mattress. I will be using a quilted mattress cover, a soft waterproof pad and a sheet, as well as a crib skirt underneath, so I do not see any issues with future tears causing and choking hazards.
Once the baby is closer to a year old and does not need the movement sensoring anymore, I will probably get the memory foam mattress anyway... so I do not plan to use this for 3 years or anything anyway... would recommend!
I just pushed it into the crib quickly to see how well it filled it out and to take a photo for the review. The crib is a Delta convertible style that my son had used in all phases. We just converted it back to the crib set up as he wanted to have his new baby brother have it at this point :-)
