Instruction for use
SYY Thermal Paste was made by high quality materials to get better thermal conductivity, and there is an exclusive design that it is a little thicker while using, to avoid it flowing to the hardware around the cpu. If it is your first time to use thermal paste:
- Clean the surface of CPU and heat sink with cleaning wipes.
- Select the right size protective plate from the included kit and place it on the CPU.
- Apply an appropriate amount of thermal grease on the CPU.
- Use the included spatula to apply the thermal paste evenly to the CPU.
- You can also use the included scraper to apply it, or use it as a baffle to prevent the thermal paste from spreading outside the CPU.
- For maximum efficacy, please leave it for at least 15 minutes before installing heat sink.

As it stands, I will immediately say that it did NOT improve thermal performance relative to the stock paste on my Asus STRIX laptop. In fact, temps went up about ~8C. However, I'm fairly confident that part of this could have been due to:
- Poor application
- My dad's interesting... application
- Not using enough (for a laptop in particular)
The negative reviews towards to thickness all kind of lean towards this. If you're not experienced with paste, then I would recommend going with another brand. It isn't friendly to new consumers who aren't confident in their skills.
I don't have the heart to tell me dad he might've messed up the application, so I'll be cleaning it up and re-applying it myself at a later date.
I will be re-updating the review once I apply it myself. Right now since it raised temperatures and was not easy to apply to a laptop, I have to give it a low rating. However, I'm giving an extra star because:
- It's cheap
- It comes with more than enough for at least 2 applications on CPU and GPU
- It comes with plenty of goodies such as a spatula and frames for thermal application
If nothing else for $8 it comes with SOME goodies that you can easily use for something else even if you have no success with the paste. I'm not impressed but hey, maybe it'll get better later!
Same-day update:
Pretty sure I found the problem. My dad took a nap and I opened up my laptop and to my surprise - he forgot to plug in one fan adapter! I plugged it in and then also decided to re-apply the paste just in case. He didn't do too bad of a job but he said something about using water so I was paranoid about how he applied it...
I'm now achieving temperatures at idle approximately ~5C lower than at stock, right after application! Mind you, temperatures for after-market thermal pastes tend to improve after they're used for a while since the paste will get spread out and become thinner, thus allowing for better heat transfer. I'm expecting temperatures to drop by around 7-10C while under a higher load.
Upped the stars to 4 - does its job and since it was so cheap it was an easy fix all things considered. However, I still do stand by my statement that for a beginner (like my dad) it can be tough due to its density. If you need something cheap, effective, and you're experienced though, I can recommend this!
After cleaning the old paste off with Alcohol wipes and applying the new paste, I decided to do the spread method as it's the only way to ensure full coverage, and NOT how HP does it. Granted Intel does say themselves just a pea-sized dot and to use pressure to disperse the paste.. That would theoretically work for a normal-use computer, but any gaming pc or a pc that's being overclocked needs to ensure 100% coverage to prevent thermal throttling, which happens very quickly on newer GPUs because they are becoming so much more powerful.
Full spread on the CPU and GPU then a full spread on the heatsink, then let it sit for 15min (as stated in the instructions for this specific paste) then apply another pea-sized dot on the CPU and GPU before putting the heatsink back on, NOT spreading the pea dot, it ensures zero air gets trapped anywhere within the paste. Air is a horrible transferor of heat, so you don't want any air bubbles at all.
My laptop came down about 10c just by re-pasting the factory thermal paste.
I'll buy again for sure, no point on spending more on something that does the same thing. The only thing that may suffer is longevity, but if you're a gamer like me you'll be reapplying the paste every 6-12 months for piece of mind anyways.

The paste spread just fine
Le prestazioni come detto sono eccellenti e sinonimo di un'ottima conduttività termica corrispondente a quella dichiarata, l'applicazione volendo è facilitata dalla spatola (io sono per il chicco di riso al centro, ma è apprezzato che sia inclusa) e grazie al toolkit con salviette ecc. la dotazione è perfetta e rende attrezzati anche per rimuovere la precedente in maniera ottimale. Inoltre la viscosità non l'ho trovata eccessiva, essendo una pasta piuttosto densa ma non per questo complicata da applicare sulla cpu, se si ha un minimo di dimestichezza con l'operazione.
A queste cifre non posso che consigliarla, avendola provata con mano e confermandone la bontà è diventata automaticamente la mia prima scelta per le future build, consiglio anche a voi di darle una chance, rimarrete stupiti dall'impareggiabile qualità-prezzo di questo prodotto.
