So I am a big time procrastinator and one of the thing which help me waste time in my smartphone. Enter CAT S22 this phone is amazing, with touch screen, keypad, Android Go 11 OS it is an amazing combination. I can keep all my important applications like bank apps, Whatsapp, Car wash app, Trading app with me and ditch all those endless scrolling and YouTube binge watching behind. In just 2-3 days my productivity is through the roof, previously it would take me 5-8 hours to finish something now I can do in 30-60 minutes.Few tricks for people who want to buy this Beauty - You can download an app called TT9 which fixes problem with double press on keyboard. this phone is unlocked and can connect to any wireless network I tested Bell and Fido which is Rogers.

Battery life, good. Navigate-able without touchscreen. Just make sure to download the "TT9 keyboard" app from github cause it makes texting more natural with the multiple presses. The built-in keyboards are shit. Also, another small caveat, if you want to "highlight" pressable on-screen buttons without using the touchscreen, please press the "volume" button on the left side of the directional buttons above the green "pick up call" button, then navigate to the button you want using the directional keyboard buttons.

Also, to access punctuation, press the "1" button twice. To access other things like space, and the @ button, press the "0" button twice.

I like this phone a lot it has Android 11 and a lot more techy stuff, looks like Cat is ahead of their time but but if you want to make a call or text you need a third party app like TextNow and still only on Wifi no cellular I put my Telus SIM card in it and it wouldn’t work too bad! I read the other reviews they all say it’s locked to T-Mobile that’s true if you want you can buy a T-Mobile plan and use any SIM card keep your number and they have a three month trial, that’s about as far as I got. Other than that it’s a SUPER Android unit tough as nails rubberized and very high tech even for android.

This was a solid, and rugged purchase. It was fairly easy to set up, if you have tiny hands and fingers, which I do not ! The standard operating system is also great , and user friendly. The only downside refers again, to the size of the touchscreen keyboard- it’s tiny ! I was trying for half an hour to write a three word text ! If you have small hands/ fingers , this phone is for you!

There's a few things about this phone that you need to know before you buy:

First, despite the ad saying its compatible with all major Canadian carriers, it is locked to T-Mobile. I when through the misery of dealing with T-Mobile customer service and they categorically refused to unlock it. Weirdly enough, my Public Mobile SIM works despite the device being locked, so I got lucky there, and there's no saying when that will stop being the case. And I can't get VoLTE (voice on 4G network) to work either. So when they eventually kill 3G in Canada, no more phone calls on this phone...

Secondly, it runs a version of Android 11 bloated with all kinds of T-Mobile crap. Android 11 is no longer supported, so that makes your phone vulnerable to all kinds of security vulnerability. If you know your way around an android phone, you can flash a newer ROM that will let you have Android 13/14, but that is not for the faint of heart.

If you can work your way around these 2 major issues, then the form factor is pretty awesome. It's not the fastest phone out there, but it does exactly what it is supposed to do, bridging a feature phone and a smartphone.

Phone manufacturer, Bullitt Group, is no longer in business. So what happens with support? Although I liked the phone, II have returned my phone.

I did not see anywhere in the specs or description that the S22 only accepts a Nano Sim Card! My LG flip uses a regular Sim, so I required a new sim from my provider, SpeakOut Wireless.
The CAT S22 arrived in one day and looks very solid and well built.

The phone was Locked and required a PIN to access, which of course is not provided. This left me quite frustrated after waiting for the new sim card. A quick Google search brought up many articles and videos on how to unlock, from the Settings menu, which you cannot get to because of the PIN lock. The only way to bypass the Pin is through a "hard reset". Steps to do this are as follows:
-With phone powered off, press the Power key and then the UP volume key, this should get you to the Recovery Menu. **be patient, I don't know if was just me, but this took several attempts to work. Often getting a "NO COMMAND" error! Hold down the Power button until the phone restarts to get rid of this error! I had to go through this several times and finally the Recovery Menu appeared. Again, maybe just me!
-Once in the Recovery Menu, scroll down [using the Volume buttons] to "wipe data/factory reset".
-Use Power button to select, confirm and reset process will begin and then return to Recovery Menu when complete.
-Scroll down to "Power Off" and again select with the Power key.
-When completely powered down, power up and you should be ready to go.

When I go to Settings -> About Phone -> Device Unlock, I see the message "Your device is network locked at this time, which prevents it from operating with other compatible wireless networks. To inquire about your device's unlock eligibility, please continue." And then there's a "continue" button there. When I click that, I'm taken to a screen where I can request a permanent unlock. When I do that, it still returns "Unlock Failed". However, it is working fine on SpeakOut Wireless, which uses the Rogers network, here in Western Canada. Go Figure!!!

I hope this helps others that may experience this frustration when first attempting to use this phone. Time will tell if it is as reliable as my old LG flip phone.

This phone did not unlock for me, even following the directions of one of the top reviews on this item, so that may not work for all devices. However, it did work with my Mint Mobile sim card regardless. Disappointingly, the phone only operated for about 10 minutes after setup and then locked itself up and shut off. When I tried to turn it back on, it got stuck in a loop that never went past the startup screen. Removed the battery and reinstalled to try again, and again got stuck in the startup loop. Returned the phone.

I bought this hoping it works with Mint Mobile based on the description on the page. But it did not even recognize my SIM. This phone is locked to T-mobile. You can even see T-Mobile logo during start up. There is an option in setting to unlock from T-Mobile (temporary unlock or permanent unlock). But both those settings did not unlock for me. I tried rebooting, switching SIM back to my current phone and then back to this. None worked. But the phone is really solid, stylish and functional.
