Battery life, good. Navigate-able without touchscreen. Just make sure to download the "TT9 keyboard" app from github cause it makes texting more natural with the multiple presses. The built-in keyboards are shit. Also, another small caveat, if you want to "highlight" pressable on-screen buttons without using the touchscreen, please press the "volume" button on the left side of the directional buttons above the green "pick up call" button, then navigate to the button you want using the directional keyboard buttons.

Also, to access punctuation, press the "1" button twice. To access other things like space, and the @ button, press the "0" button twice.

Have had for about a week and am happy so far. The main reason I got it was because r/dumbphones and r/nosurf on Reddit said this was a good phone if you want some of the conveinces of a smartphone but with less of the distractions.

The form factor of this phone makes it hard to doomscroll or get sucked into for hours, yet you can still have the useful aspects of a smartphone (maps, QR, scanner,) and I can listen to my podcasts, audiobooks and music. It just doesn't have the lull of the screen and the easy-in-the-hands feel a full on smartphone does. I don't feel the compulsion to whip it out of my pocket like I do a standard smartphone. However, the ruggedness feels very satisfying and I like the cyberpunk aesthetic of the phone as opposed to the swooshy look of 2000's look of flip phones.

The next best thing is the phone is solid as a rock. Reminds me of the ruggedness of the 2000's flip phones but even more rugged. With a smartphone I always have a crack along the screen. I'm clumsy with things so this helps.

Only thing is the battery life is subpar.

All over a great phone for a great price.

If you're computer-savvy, you can make this phone work as your daily phone with no loss in functionality, while still reducing your screen time. If you're less computer-savvy, it performs great and has enough base functions for anyone to use. If you run into problems with running your SIM card, simply connect to wifi and update the phone.

If you want full smartphone utility such as being able to run Duolingo and banking apps, you will need to mess around with the settings past what most people are familiar with. Turning on developer mode and changing the minimum screen size to 450 will let you run most apps with no problems.

The programmable button on the side is very handy, great for pulling up your contacts, turning on your flashlight, or a number of other features. It's not overly intuitive to use, and it initially seems like a button that does nothing.

It does come pre-loaded with some unsavory bloatware, including a bunch of T-mobile "apps" that can't be removed without some serious computer know-how. One particularly alarming pre-installed app is "Mobile Installer" followed by some non-english text. Even one of the ringtones is T-mobile.

The only downside refers again, to the size of the touchscreen keyboard- it’s tiny ! I was trying for half an hour to write a three word text ! There's a few things about this phone that you need to know before you buy:

First, despite the ad saying its compatible with all major Canadian carriers, it is locked to T-Mobile. I when through the misery of dealing with T-Mobile customer service and they categorically refused to unlock it. Weirdly enough, my Public Mobile SIM works despite the device being locked, so I got lucky there, and there's no saying when that will stop being the case. And I can't get VoLTE (voice on 4G network) to work either. So when they eventually kill 3G in Canada, no more phone calls on this phone...

Secondly, it runs a version of Android 11 bloated with all kinds of T-Mobile crap. Android 11 is no longer supported, so that makes your phone vulnerable to all kinds of security vulnerability. If you know your way around an android phone, you can flash a newer ROM that will let you have Android 13/14, but that is not for the faint of heart.

If you can work your way around these 2 major issues, then the form factor is pretty awesome. It's not the fastest phone out there, but it does exactly what it is supposed to do, bridging a feature phone and a smartphone.

This phone did not unlock for me, even following the directions of one of the top reviews on this item, so that may not work for all devices. However, it did work with my Mint Mobile sim card regardless. Disappointingly, the phone only operated for about 10 minutes after setup and then locked itself up and shut off. When I tried to turn it back on, it got stuck in a loop that never went past the startup screen. Removed the battery and reinstalled to try again, and again got stuck in the startup loop. Returned the phone.

The touch screen works but my fingers need to be precise on the qwerty keyboard. Expected. But the touchscreen works but dont text and drive because one bump causes wrong letter. How to Unlock Mobile Network on CAT S22 FLIP phone to use it with any GSM network providers

Let me tell you how to Unlock Mobile Network on CAT S22 FLIP phone (T-Mobile network locked phone) to use it with any GSM network operators/providers.
First of all, when you receive your phone, DO NOT INSTALL a SIM card in it. Skip the Mobile Network Setup and continue updating and customizing your phone. When you're done, go to Settings -> About Phone -> Device Unlock -> Continue and select PERMANENT UNLOCK!!!!!. The phone will reboot, then you turn off the phone and install any GSM nano SIM card. Also, if you need it, check or configure the APN (Access Point Name) of the GSM network operator you are using with this phone.
Personally, I bought 2 units and unlocked them. I would recommend this phone to people who are not on their phone 24/7.
