Awesome tool do some research on how it works before using
Awesome tool. Watch some videos on how to use it. Included instructions aren’t the best. When you buy this I recommend buying some cheap aluminum nut serts to practice with. Read what the box says and adjust the tool to the appropriate squeeze depth. I find the reviews people have gave are wrong when they say they broke the inserts. I find this is because they didn’t research how the tool works. I went into this thinking it is like a rivet gun. It is not. There is no final snapping or breaking action letting you know the work is done. This is up to you to set the depth to the appropriate size (this is called the grip range) when the tool is done squeezing the nut sert then you unthread the tool and you are done.Look on the box of the inserts to see the recommended grip range adjust the tool by threading or unthreading so you are working within the parameters of the insert

This thing works great and has loads of leverage for M12 and 3/8" Rivet Nuts, but I think the seller's tape measure is a few inches too generous. I was curious because there are so many very similar tools on Amazon, and this is the only one that said it was a full 17" long. Sure enough, the arms measure in a hair shorter than 13" and tip to tip it is only a hair longer than 15". Giving the seller the benefit of the doubt, I kept measuring. Sure enough, if you put the M5 insert into it and spread the arms all the way apart, then from the tip of one handle to the tip of the other handle, it is almost exactly 17" (it has to be the M5 though, because the different inserts are sized to limit the stroke so that it is a bit harder to break - any other insert and this would be shorter or longer than 17").

I have not had any problems with broken parts yet, but I can totally see how there is enough leverage in the handles that you could snap some of the smaller insert bits. I would highly recommend testing the thing on a loose rivet nut first to get an idea of how far and how hard you need to pull before you start breaking things.

This is also my experience with rivet nuts, and if you are thinking about giving them a try, they are a very slick way of fastening things to thin metal.

When I went to put it away, I did find myself wishing I had spent a few extra dollars and just gotten a "shorter" one that came with a case.

Excellent quality tool. Comes with a wide variety of both SAE and Metric Dies. Easy adjustment for rivnut compression, but it took three days seaching YouTube to find out how to use those features. What passes for a manual I found of little use. It is one small piece of paper with very small print and I could not find complete instructions on how to read the gauge or to make the proper settings. Now that I understand its adjustments I am very happy with the tool

the tool is not bad it is made from steel except the wheel for screw in the rivet, it is made from plastic but the quality of the plastic is good - it is sturdy enough, the parts which holds the mandrel are relay made from chrome-vanadium steel

the mandrels are NOT made from chrome-vanadium steel, they are softer them the steel the wrench is made from, but they are harder that the steel of the rivets

you will need 3 hands to change the mandrel, the wrench will not help you to hold down the bushing which fix the mandrel to the tool

Well built easy to use. Works as it should while using aluminum nut inserts. As of yet have nut used it with steel nut inserts

I had a smaller one that was really difficult to get the nut to sit properly and not spin when the bolt is inserted. I got this one and wow, so much easier to use and the nuts sit firmly on the metal sheeting.

This tool only ever managed to set a few rivet nuts before breaking. There is a c-clip inside that for some reason doesn't hold. I've replaced it a couple of times but of course I don't have the exact right size and it breaks again after another few uses. Generally, the tool seems reasonably well built and like it *should* work OK but that c-clip is a weak point ... at least on mine. Seems like the tool gets pretty good reviews otherwise so I'm assuming mine has an out-of-spec tolerance on the c-clip groove for some reason.

I put in 120 M8 riv-nuts on my aluminum dock sections. The hardest part was to drill the holes straight so they line up with the bracket holes. Once I made a drill jig it went perfectly.
I adjusted the tool to tighten it so far, then turned the thread in 1 more turn and tightened the riv-nuts again to finish the rivet. This made it easier to tighten them to the aluminum. The tool made this very easy.
I have some M6 to do soon.
Make sure not to tighten too much or the tool can pull the threads.
I use a form tap to fix this if it happens!

5.0 out of 5 stars If using plus nuts, you need to order longer screw

This worked perfectly to install plus nuts in my sprinter van! It got the job done in seconds but I had to order these first: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CBF43TX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They are 2 " 1/4-20 socket head screws the one provided was too short for plus nuts. It was an extremely easy fix to make installing plus nuts a breeze! Please note that you would have to order the socket head screws in the size of the plus nut you would be using, I was using 1/4-20's!
