Turn off power at the breaker and connect the included Pro Power Kit to your doorbell’s chime inside.

I wanted to install it as per instructions but the old chime was too old and ugly and was thrown away a while ago. I did not want to buy another one just for that so I installed it in the wall (no electrical box needed) and was able to hide it with a switch and plate (not plugged, only used as a front) for future access. (I know I still need to plaster the whole). I gave it 4 stars because the mounting screws are very small and this doorbell could easily be stolen. 24 hours after installation, it lost the WiFi connection (nothing was changed) so it had to be reset. I hope this won't happen again. Also when I sent a Messenger message to Ring in French, they sent me an English link for the installation but provided and European phone number! I plan on adding more items on this system and I think the 20V transformer I have will need to be upgraded to a 24V one so if you have to upgrade yours go to 24V right away.

I already have a first generation Ring Doorbell Pro and love it, so I got this Pro 2 version for my main front door, and moved the older one to the basement door. The Pro 2 adds 2 major benefits compared to the old one and is well worth the upgrade.

The Pro 2 looks similar to the first generation but it has slightly different dimensions. It installs using the existing door bell wiring and is very straightforward to install using the provided instructions. Pairing to your Ring account is also very straightforward and worked flawlessly. Once paired in the Ring App, you can get a snapshot immediately, and then navigate in the app to view real-time video live. The first major benefit over the first generation is the improvement in picture quality. Both Ring Pro generations have excellent quality, but the Pro 2 adds a sharper more colorful image. The second biggest upgrade is the field of view, which now includes the floor in front of my door. I can easily see packages and where they were placed. The app also sends notifications not only when there is motion or someone at the front door, but when a package is left there as well. It is an amazing doorbell camera and a nice upgrade over the first generation. I very highly recommend it for anyone wanting the security of instant notifications when there is motion, someone or a package at your front door.

Purchased during prime deals which helped with the cost. Super easy to connect to wired doorbell. Instructions were easy to follow and installation was easy. Quick set up and running in no time. Can view camera on phone easily no matter where we are on multiple devices. Great picture quality, audio and can talk or use preset sayings. Pricey but if you get it on sale it helps.

Disappointing, really can't see a package unless it is out about a foot and half from the edge of the camera. I paid a lot ($340 CAD) just to get that option too. So the package detection option is useless if they place the package too close to the door. On the bright side, the picture quality is very good and it's very easy to install. (And this was a new install in a 100 year house).

Update: Working with Brett at Ring, he provided a wedge kit which allows me to get a much better view of packages. At first I was concerned the wedge would stick out too far and the doorbell would be easily damaged. With a minor modification I was able to install it. I can see packages better now. As a result I updated the rating from 2 stars to 4. I think a much better design would be the ability to adjust the camera within the frame.

I like the idea of knowing who is outside before I open the door. It’s a great tool to have. It was fairly easy to install. I bought the one that connects directly to your original doorbell so it never dies. I live in a Canada in one of the coldest areas and I’ve heard of people’s ring doorbell not working due to the extreme cold. So I decided to splurge on the more expensive one. We had -28C so far it’s still working. Only downside is after the one month free subscription your phone will be bombarded with the ring notification saying someone is at your front door.. even though no one is there. It was constantly making my phone go off until I paid the $66/year subscription. It was very annoying!

The only issues I've had with the doorbell so far are due to the wiring in my house / my transformer, and have nothing to do with the doorbell.

It's honestly a great little device. I love that I can customize the motion zones so that big trucks driving by don't set it off to alert me. Installation was SO easy, I did it myself. Everything you need comes in the box, even wire extenders (which definitely came in handy for me!) Picture is super clear and like others before me have said, the doorbell can see my entire doorstep, hopefully no more stolen packages! App is easy enough to use, and of course the doorbell was seamless to add to the rest of my Ring security system.

The only thing, I wish the Ring documentation was more clear about your power requirements. In order to have this device working optimally, you need a 16V 30VA transformer (I could only find information saying you need 16V, but you DO need 30VA too or your audio may cut in and out like mine does-- I'll update my review if these issues don't improve when I update the transformer to reflect this but I'm overall happy with the doorbell).

The good news about this camera is that if has a great viewing angle in both directions. Video quality is otherwise mediocre.

Note this does not come with anything except the silver faceplate, even though the product listing says it does.

Ring support is bad enough that I'm returning this, installing an alternative product, and working on cancelling my ring account once I have better cameras installed.
