Genuine part but still won't fit without modification
Ordered these filters as they seemed like genuine replacements and were a great price. Parts came well packaged and as far as I can they are indeed genuine LG filters. They match the part number identified on LG website for my specific model, however I couldn't get them to lock into place without modifying the interior shape of the connection. They engaged into the connector but would only turn part way. I tried applying pressure and twisting as hard as felt comfortable without risking breaking the fridge connector. After looking at both parts for what was blocking it from turning, I suspected it was interference of the two small protrusions on the inner side of the filter connector. I proceeded to carefully trim them off with a hobby exacto after blocking the inlet hole with paper towel to prevent bits from getting in. Once completed, it slide into place and twisted into the locked position with minimal effort.Perhaps the design of this connector has been updated since we bought our fridge 3-4 yrs ago and they now aren't directly compatible... who knows. For the price, it's still worth it but having to tediously modify the parts to get them to work sucks, at least it only has to be done every 6 months or so...Haven't been able to find any replacement filters on Amazon that didn't some kind of modification to fit but I refuse to pay 50-60$ for a single filter. That's just insane.Once installed, I purged the recommended 3 gallons and water is crystal clear with good taste.
