Top critical review
3.0 out of 5 starsNot for live music or rehearsals, excellent customer service

I play in bands and often record rehearsals and shows. My last recorder had settings to adjust for noise levels, but this one doesn't and so everything above around 60-70dB (a level typical of a TV or car radio) is distorted, unlistenable, and therefore unusable.
The controls are also limited. One switch to record - I thought that was a great idea until the first time I used it. It didn't turn on when I thought it did and recorded nothing. Other days it would turn itself on in a shirt pocket and record hours of daily nothing. You can't see your files organized by date unless you connect to a PC, so you're going forward or backward file by file, and within files the FF and REW is a constant speed making it painful to get to specific sections of a long file.
It may be fine for lectures or other voice-only recording. But do test it in your first week or two while the return window is open.
[Update] The vendor kindly reached out to offer a full refund less an "Amazon promo fee" which they don't get back. While this recorder may or may not work for you, I found their customer service to be excellent, and they care enough about their reputation to fix what they can. I would not hesitate to buy a Xixitpy product again, though I might ask a question or two first to be sure it is designed for my intended use. Adding a star to give this a passsing grade.
