The small size, solid steel finish and long-lasting battery make it ideal to just carry around and be at the ready to record your though, idea, or for profession dictation. The unit can be place at the ready in recording mode with the side slider and then you can quickly press the rec/pause button to add continuously to one file. You can quickly flick the switch to finish one file and start another. In standby it will turn off the screen but still be ready to record once you press on. The light will flash to indicate recording is active if you speaking for a long time.As for the features, it comes with a wired buds but you can use the internal speaker to listen as well. The buds connect to the right side when screen facing up while the USB charging to the left as seen on one of the pictures. It comes with a USB-A to C adapter and the cable as well should you need that. The strap is standard affair but with the right size for the unit and attach securely at the bottom right. On the software side, most of the function are straightforward. Prev/Next allow you to switch file in play mode to listen to, Return bring you to previous menu and DELL is for deleting and it has confirmation before doing so. In the menu Prev/Next serve as navigation Up/Down. Holding Menu bring the full function menus for system settings, play mode, recording format, etc. In menu, Play become the action button and Return the move back (cancel). So, once you get use to that it easy to navigate and for most part you will do those settings once to your liking and just use.There are other niceties like you can add sound file, or music, to the device. With the earbuds that may be good but the small speaker might not do justice to anything else but voice. The setting also allows you to set repeat on your playback, so for dictation that can be helpful if you are listening to some else commentary. You can even adjust the playback speed, again useful if you are listening and perhaps typing and you can type faster than the speaker. Recording format includes Wav/MP3 and you can select bitrates. The connector can serve as a line-in and there is an option to select which Mic to use. There is recording sensitivity, noise attenuation sensitivity and segmentation size among other things.Where this unit loose a bit is around the size of the screen and display for people who, like me, may need reading glasses. However, once you get familiar you can still operate without seeing all the details but for settings and navigation you will have to have good near sight. Then the button tactile feedback is great actually but it is also clicky, which means if you are using them while recording those click come up loud on your recording, including pause for example, unless you use an external mic. Then moving to a new file while recording could have easily been done with the Prev/Next button instead of the sliding switch.
