these buttons record when you hold them down instead of a separate button for it. So my cat is constantly resetting and rerecording them. I have found it to b quite inconvenient. However they still work and he uses them. I just prefer the ones that have the separate recorder button instead of the main button.

I used these buttons to record sounds for my dogs to communicate. I have been training them to use these buttons over the past few weeks to ask for "dinner" or "outside" among other things. It is easy to record a message, so much so that my one year old does it probably 3 times per day. Per button. I am constantly rerecording and it gets annoying. My dogs can also erase my message and record their own fairly easily so when they press the button later I dont hear what they want. One thing that I really dislike about the buttons is that they aren't attached to anything, so when I place them in a specific arrangement on the floor so my dogs can learn where each button is, they are easily moved. I ended up putting Command strips on the back, but even then my larger dog will get excited and pull them up off the floor. My son is also able to pull them up and carry them off. Since I have dogs pressing the buttons, sometimes they don't hit it exactly in the middle and the sound doesn't play. I can hear paws hitting the plastic, but I have to walk over to the buttons and hope they do it again or I have no idea what they want. Overall, the buttons record easily, have a decent sound quality if you record the message correctly, and will play the sound when pressed. It works as advertised. If you are looking to use this as a dog communication system, you may want to find something more specifically designed for that. Especially if you have a 70lb dog who LOVES "outside" and a curious, determined toddler who thinks he's a dog.

These sound like a good idea but these are so cheaply made they are useless.

The good, they are easy to figure out. Push the thing until it beeps and talk to it. Push it again and it talks back. No docs included but you can figure that part out. They are OK sized, and they are different colors.

The bad. They are not at all loud, like you might hear them if you are in the same room and the dogs hits it when you are standing by it. If it is across the room or in another room, forget it. Not a chance. They are very poorly made, I have had them under a week and one of the buttons is already messed up and does not activate properly. Even worse is my wife has been playing with them more than the dogs.

I had high hopes for these, but they are useless if you can not hear them. Perhaps they will come out with a model that can connect to a Bluetooth speaker. That would solve the volume issue. Better engineering would solve the buttons.
