Honestly I'm kind of surprised many people don't know the difference between a typical USB C and Lightning.
This is a Lightning connector, which means it will only work with apple products. It was made specifically for this, back in 2012.
The problem is, since 2012 all of the Apple devices have moved to standard USB C to compete with the market pressure.
This product is not only a false statement, but also over 10 years old.
Lie & scam - do not buy.

🌟 Quality:
The packaging was difficult to open; I had to cut it off, which is not usual in my opinion. The build quality is decent and the material feels smooth and sturdy.

⚙️ Functionality:
This product is mislabelled as USB-C but actually has a Lightning connector, limiting its use to older Apple devices. For those with older iPhones and iPads, it works fine, supporting both SD and MicroSD cards. The reader is plug-and-play and detected right away, allowing for easy file transfers. However, I experienced issues with the card reader when plugging it into a USB-C port on my desktop, needing to flip it to get it to work.

💰 Price:
Price is not too bad considering its functionality with older Apple devices.

🏆 Overall:
Overall, it’s a misleading product because of its incorrect labeling as USB-C. While it works fine with Lightning-compatible devices, it’s outdated and doesn't meet the needs of those with newer devices. If you need a Lightning connection card reader, it’s decent, but for others, I recommend exploring other options.

I ordered this card reader as a way to copy files for backup from my phone when I wasn't near my computer. I generally don't use Cloud storage and thought I would try this device. First of all, I want to say that I read some of the other review that said the reader had a Lightning cord, not a USB C cord. Mine came with a USB C cord as the advertisement stated, so it was perfect for my Samsung phone. I read through the instructions on the listing in order to make sure I was doing everything correctly and was able to transfer some things onto a microSD card without difficulty. The reader worked as it said it would and I know I will get some good use out of it.
My laptop does not have card readers built into it, so this will also come in handy for my laptop. I have an HP with USB A ports, so I was able to use a USB C to USB A adapter and transfer files with ease. I have to transfer files onto a micro SD for my mini CNC controller and this will be perfect for that application as well. So far, I am pleased with it and feel it was a good value for the price it is offered at.

I thought I was going to receive a USB-C card reader but I got lightning instead. The listing has changed I guess. Anyway, I am not able to use it on my new Apple products but I was able to use it on my old iPad. The card reader was able to work on my SD cards fine.

This product works as advertised. The build quality is fine, it'll last. But of course, as both SD cards and lightning are super slow, it takes forever to browse and import. Better off accessing from your computer if you can.

USB 'C ' is not a 'C'

As a couple other reviewers have stated the USB 'C' is actually an apple lightning connection.
I will have to get an adapter to change it from lightening to 'C' as my phone is a 'C'.
If I get an adapter I will update the review, but until then this is just another outdated product.
Of note, I had a hard time getting this out of the packaging, it's like they made the bag around it. I could not get it to slide out of the opening and ended up having to cut the bag off, which is not usual in my opinion.

I was hoping for USB-C based on the product description - alas its lightning cable only, which means its ONLY compatible with older Apple Phones/Ipads, etc. I luckily had an older iPhone and iPad kicking around to test this out, and it works with both SD Cards and the smaller MicroSD cards. The unit is plug and play and was detected right away when plugged in, and you can either copy or fully transfer images off the card(s) to the phone.
I gave it 2/5 stars as mis-labelled product, however it does work at least if you are looking for a lightning cable connection card reader.

Works fine.

I had an issue with the card reader when I plugged it into the USB-C port on my desktop. The card reader wouldn't read my micro SD card. I flipped the card reader around so that the USB-C cable was plugged "upside down" or 180 degrees. Then the card reader would read my micro SD card. I have no idea why.

I also tried using a USB-C to USB-A adapter. I didn't have any issues with the card reader plugged into a USB-A port on my desktop.

I copied about 20 GB to my micro SD card. The card reader stayed cool. I tried twice. Once via the USB-A port and once via the USB-C port. The transfer speed was the same.

Keep in mind that micro SD cards don't write that fast. Be realistic about the read and write speed. They are just tiny cards and will not write/read as fast as a USB flash drive.

I can recommend this card reader if you need one. I'm not sure why the card reader would read my micro SD card when plugged into the USB-C port the one way though.
