This IP cam is one of the truly versatile cameras out there that supports almost everything one would want or need (granted; everyone's preference is different). I personally do not care much for phone App as the vast majority of these on the market have one anyway and they all work fairly well for the most part. What I wanna see is the support and ability to use PC-based software, whether it is their own or support for others such as Blue Iris, ZoneMinder, or Shinobi etc. One of the outcomes of 3rd party software support is the ability to use either HTTPS or RTSP to connect, manage, or stream video feed directly from the cam and/or the software from which the cam is being managed. I'd also like to see support for HTTPS/RTSP to be able to manage it remotely from a browser and stream it using a RTSP client of my choice.While it appears to be able to do both, time laps recording is ONLY available from the phone App which is rather disappointing for me. FTP support works fine though. Support for ONVIF also means a large number of tools out there can make use of the cam since it's an open standard. Also, it's one of the very few cams that actually supports customized NTP server list.≡ What I like✓ True 8MP/4K resolution✓ Clear (for the most part) day and night time recordings✓ Support for: POE and HTTPS/RTSP/NTP✓ Standalone PC/Mac-app✓ Wired capability✓ Firmware upgradable✓ Highly customizable configurations: variety of recording options, various motion detect parameters✓ Secure MicroSD card slot: needs to be unscrewed for removal✓ Somewhat reasonable price point of around $100≡ What I don't like✕ Time lapse doesn't work/not available for PC/Mac-based setup (only seems to be available from Phone App)✕ Support/regular updates/patches for PC software could be better✕ Motion detection (human or vehicle) is a hit/miss✕ Can only be mounted upside downThe recording quality during day time is for the most part crisp and clear (and it's true ~4K unlike most others that utilize interpolations). Night time recording, even with the help of IR is above average at best (and there are very few that are better). Generally speaking, its video quality is amongst the top at this price point. Feature-wise, it has way more settings that can be fine-tuned for your needs. Motion detection; however, is a hit and miss sometimes. Though, I haven't really had time to fine tune the various parameters pertaining to motion detection. Though, keep in mind that the FoV (Field of View) is much narrower (H/87°, V/44°) in comparison to most brands or other models but it is at least better than RLC-520A.≡ ValueAll things considered, this is an extremely capable security cam with a lot of potential (only if the software can catch up to what it can really do). Unfortunately, time laps recording doesn't really work for me which I'm hoping it can be remedied soon in future firmware/app releases. The camera can ALMOST be fully managed directly from HTTPS with a few exceptions. Last but not least, there is a 4-6 sec delay (probably to support post-motion detect recording etc) when viewed from HTTPS, RTSP, or the PC app.
