Works well, the video is pretty clear, but I would look at other dashcams from RedTiger personally.

Works well, the video is pretty clear, but I would look at other dashcams from RedTiger personally.
So I think this dashcam is pretty nice. It works well, and has basically everything that you’d expect from a dashcam this expensive. It comes with all the things you’ll need to install it, including a wire stuffer (to help hide the wires). It does turn on when the car starts, though to use this you’ll need to use your cigarette lighter. It doesn’t come with a USB C to USB A cable, though I have tested it using a wall adapter and it seemed to work okay. It also turns off around 30 seconds after you’ve stopped the car (or it stops receiving power).I think the touch screen is also okay. It works fine, though I would say it’s preference whether or not you want a touch screen or buttons. Personally I find that buttons work better for me, as I’m able to use gloves (and sometimes all touch screens just don’t recognize my fingers for whatever reason), but that’s just me.If you’re wondering how bright the screen is during driving, I found it wasn’t too distracting. I could drive without being blinded by the lights on the screen or distracted by loud beeps or anything. Out of the box it does make some sounds when you press buttons and stuff, but there is a setting that you can turn off if you don’t like the sounds. At $230, it is a nice dash cam. I don’t think I can put a price on something that can help you get out of an insurance claim or whatever, but I do think that the image is pretty clear, and it works pretty seamlessly.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
This is a fairly decent dashcam if you are aware of its LIMITATIONS (and to a certain degree with most other dashcams out there nowadays) and while it works without any issues and comes with all the necessary accessories (cables, pry tool, adhesives/GPS, and car charger etc) supplied, I'm a bit disappointed at the video quality (as I nearly always have been), specifically its inability capture license plates unless it's within 1 car-length DIRECTLY ahead of the dashcam. Note that the GPS is NOT built into the dashcam but it's part of the adhesive bracket.

In comparison to most other 1080p dashcams, this one is noticeably better in terms of video quality but its 4K video quality is just about the same with MOST others 4K dashcams (probably due to the fact that this uses h.265 like most others do) although the lens/processors underneath are quite similar (or the same in most cases) amongst nearly all of 'em.

✘ Note
There is no option to change h.265 to h.264 that some other 4K dashcams can which is a bit of a boo-boo for me because I'm in general not a big fan of HEVC due to artifacts and overall picture quality (or the lack of it) for dashcams (HEVC for other video types is a whole other discussion which I won't get into now).

The video for the front cam is 3840x2160@30 FPS with a MP4 container. It's significantly BETTER than those dashcams with AVI container (most of them found here are using AVI at the time of this writing) and noticeably better than those that use MP4 containers encoded in 1080p, and it's roughly the same or at least similar to most other 4K dashcams utilizing MP4 containers and h.265. Lastly, the video quality is consequently slightly worse than those (few dashcams that I've come across) encoded using h.264.

* When a car is directly in front of the dashcam with approximately 1-2 meters away, I could see the plate with almost absolute certainty (on a clear day that is).

* At around 2-3 car-lengths, it's nearly impossible to ascertain the plate to any degree of accuracy; however, you could at least begin to GUESS what the license might be.

* At a distance beyond 3-4 car-lengths, well, your guess is as good as mine. All I could see is a blob of pixels that I truly doubt anyone can really get anything useful out of it.

I've included a few pictures taken unmodified and directly from the original 4K video (in MP4 format produced by the dashcam); however, Amazon modified these files automatically so what you see isn't gonna be the same as what I see but I could tell you that the result is the same.

The dashcam will undoubtedly provide undisputed sequence of events recorded by the dashcam; however, I believe that's really the extent of what it could provide with respect to vehicle/license plates. Of course, one could always argue it's better than nothing and I'd agree but when it comes down to the reality should something bad happens, it could be the difference between whether there is a case or not.

I don't expect it to capture a license plate from 1km away but 2-3 car-lengths is a rather short distance considering what really goes on our streets nowadays. Although this is better (however slightly) than other dashcams utilizing MP4 containers encoded in 1080p, it is still WAY BELOW the video quality that I believe we all should have at this point in time and that's just sad. Under the best of circumstances the video quality is still worse than a 720p video encoded from Bluray (reasonable quality presets).

The following is the media spec of the original/unmodified MP4 file produced by the dashcam, for those who are interested.

###

In terms of other features, it has most, if not all, of the configurable settings for both video and picture modes that other dashcams have. For video settings, it has most of the common ones as most others have. However, it does have something most others don't have as well and that's of course the IPS touch screen which is still rare at this point in time. In comparison to the vast majority of other dashcams that I've come across and reviewed so far (5+ dozens), the touch screen and the size of screen of this dashcam is amongst some of the better ones although I'm not particularly thrilled about the aspect ratio but that's of course more of a personal preference than anything else.

Other than that, it's quite similar if not the same as nearly all others (not that there are a lot of extra/advanced options here anyway) although it does have time-lapse mode which only about 15% of the those that I've come across have so (again) if that's something you are after, this could be the one. In short, it's got a fairly complete (but not the most) set of options with respect to configurable settings for both video and picture modes.

Keep in mind that parking/monitor mode requires a hardwire kit that's NOT included (and almost nobody else does either). Btw, it includes a 32 GB Micro SD card that few do so that's certainly a point in its favor.

✘ I should also mention that I no longer find touch screen for these dashcams useful or even desirable because I simply do NOT use it frequently enough after it's been setup and it's for the most part attached to the windshield 24/7 and I'd remove the Micro SD card to view the videos instead of using it (or even the app) because the screen is just too small and it's not even remotely as convenient as using a REAL player (whatever you wanna use) on a computer.

The touchscreen surely is helpful especially for initial configuration and whatnot but who else is really changing the settings frequently after it's been setup and attached to the windshield? Well, not me. As such, I the touchscreen is really just a waste of money in my mind and I rather spend the money for some other features or perhaps a better lens that can actually capture the license plates beyond 1-2 car lengths, but then again, perhaps that's just me.
###

≡ Value
All things considered, this dashcam will allow you to capture things that have happened; however, it will NOT or at least very unlikely to provide with you sufficient details to identify vehicles (plates or what have you) with adequate certainty that you'd like to have unless they are relatively close to you (or right in front of you).

It's somewhat reasonably priced at $160 for what it provides given its overall physical build quality, video quality, features (touch screen), and performance. If you aren't concerned about or fancy a touchscreen, there are quite a few other options and/or alternatives out there with comparable (and sometimes slightly better) video quality and feature set for LESS than half the dough if you care to shop around. Your mileage might vary.

This dash cam is middle of the road which is alright. The picture quality is good and it comes with a good sized memory card. I like the suction cup mount because there’s no room on my dash for this. There are better ones with more features but this one is excellent for the price, especially since there’s a nice discount coupon on Amazon at the time of this review which brings this unit in at around only $50. Hard to beat for this quality of 4K image and the memory card. great 👍🏼

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
To spare you from a lengthy essay, here's a breakdown on some key features I love about this dash-cam:
- Great video quality. No problem recording license plates, even if they are 20-30ft away. Keep in mind you need to let the video to finish processing (the live feed is lower quality). Night recording is good.
- Pretty good software. The dashcam's user interface and the app's interface is actually decent, with a standard feature set and good translations. Not buggy, it was easy/quick to navigate, and it was simple to pair my phone
- Collision detection. If it ends up detecting a collision, it'll make sure the footage isn't overwritten. That way even if you forget to explicitly download/save it, it won't get erased like it'd normally would as you drive.
- GPS and speed data. Can be a handy record; for example if a cop says you went over speed, you now have an accurate counter of how fast you were actually going.

Now why might you NOT want this? Well, this really has everything you'll want/need if you want some security against front collisions. However, you may want a more complete/larger system. For one, this only records when your car is on. So, don't expect any added security against break-ins and damage. And you may want something that also records the back of your car.

But in general, I think you can't really go wrong with this model and the REDTIGER brand

I have been using dashcam for safer driving for many years already. But it has been the old school conventional dashcam without app control, Wifi/Bluetooth connectivity, and built-in GPS fusion. Once I saw how these super practical features could help further elevate the user experience of dashcam, I have started searching for my right fit, and finaly settled with the Red Tiger 4K Dashcam with all these feature. No joke, with it compare to my old one, the experience is by far raised to the new level.

The built-in GPS is a game-changer, offering precise location data for added security and peace of mind. Other major killer application is the 5GHz WiFi ensures fast and reliable connectivity, allowing seamless access to footage via the dedicated app.

Overall, this dash cam is absolutely a fantastic investment that will bring experience to another level. I highly recommend it to my friends.

We originally purchased one for the motorhome to use as a dash cam and were so happy with the product that we bought a second one for the jeep. We like the picture quality and the fact that we can access the images/videos via an app you can install on your phone. The fact that it also records direction, gps location and speed is a huge bonus.

Ordered with the hardwire kit, yet unit only records when it feels like it. Very unreliable. Worked ok for a week then I noticed it wasn't even recording. Spent an hour disconnecting from the fuse box and reinstalled it just to be 100% sure it was installed correctly. It worked for 2 weeks but now it's back to not recording. If you connect it to your phone you can hit record. Then it works then stop recording again. I cannot figure out what to do to get this thing to work right. If it's not going to record when it's supposed to, it's garbage.
