You will need to buy screws
You will see in the photo, the tiny screws that are provided. They are not fat enough nor long enough to gain purchase on the metal plate that will connect to the stand.I had to buy size 6-32 half inch machine screws, size 6 washers and size 6 locking nuts to be sure of a good connection. I put a washer between the screw head and the plastic deck, and one between the bottom of the plastic deck and the metal connecting piece. Perhaps a bit of overkill. Using a number 8 wrench, I tightened them as much as reasonably comfortable. The metal connecting piece has a bit of screw milling but not much! Most of them just pushed through.The manufacturer also provides this cotter pin on a leash as a safeguard to keep the base stem extended. It tends to fall out every time I move the stand.The stand does wobble a bit at the place where the upper stem fits into the lower stem. I will probably devise some kind of strap to keep my lap top in place.Using the bigger screws does give you the five bumps on the deck, but that may be helpful in keeping things in place. I will likely put a piece of that skid proof rubbery mat mesh over the bumps to keep them from scratching my laptop. There is a tiny lip on the deck... maybe 1 mm (3/8 inch).The tilting mechanism seems to work okay. I hope this solves the issue of never having a high enough table to put my projector on, and the second one to hold my laptop, when doing presentations.We shall see!
